Featured review
I watched "Skok" (Heisst) because of the name of film director Kazimierz Kutz. The plot is about Franek (Daniel Olbrychski) and Pawel (Marian Opania), who failed their high school exams and ran away from home to the seaside. On the beach, they are accosted by a stranger, Filip (Andrzej Gazdeczka). He has been observing the boys and has figured out their situation. He wants to make it easier for them to sign on a ship in exchange for help in robbing the cash of a nearby State Agricultural Farm. Franek and Pawel agree to a "manly adventure". They go to the State Agricultural Farm and get a job working the harvest. They are to act according to an agreed plan. But Pawel is going on dates with Teresa (Malgorzata Braunek) and is not interested in participating in a burglary. To me, a petty crime story is a pretext to show the Polish reality of the late 1960s on the Baltic Coast. "Heisst" conveys the black-and-white atmosphere of provincial Poland in a charming way. The shots of the seaside, the beach in Miedzyzdroje, and the life of the State Agricultural Farm are simply captivating. And you can enjoy many popular actors, including young future stars Daniel Olbrychski, Malgorzata Braunek, and Marian Opania.
