Jerry dans la lune (1967)

Trivia

Jerry dans la lune

Edit
The title is a parody of "Oh sole mio", a globally known Neapolitan song written in 1898 by Giovanni Capurro and the melody was composed by Eduardo di Capua and has been performed universally ever since.
As befits the space age sixties, this cartoon is full of nifty gadgets, including a space station with regular deliveries, a Rube Goldberg like operations system, a laser beam right out of "Goldfinger," and robotics galore. Who knew that such fanciful notions would become reality in the not too distant future?
The jet pack, on which the flying devices here were based, made its debut in the early 1960's and soon became a TV gimmick. Besides this short, the futuristic mode of transport appeared in The Flintstones and Gilligan's Island, as well as a cameo flight in the 007 film Thunderball (1965).
The round shaped supply satellite is actually a nod to the original Sputnik. Launched in 1957, Sputnik 1 was a metal sphere just 23" in diameter. It was the first artificial man-made object to successfully orbit the earth, and ushered in the space age.
