There had been plans for Roy Orbison to star in five movies - MGM had given him a five-picture contract - but after this film proved to be a critical and commercial flop no more were made. His only other film appearances were as himself in Roadie (1980) and La vie en plus (1988), the latter uncredited.
Douglas Kennedy was quoted as saying after the film's release "Well, Roy (Orbison) was no actor, but after walking in on him in his trailer, I can tell you he has a tallywhacker like an industrial spanner! So I spare him no sympathy".
His references to peanuts giving heart burn and him saying he had eaten too many peanuts are funny because early in his career he and his band were home-based in Dothan Alabama, The Peanut Capital of the World.
