There is a chapter in NCERT's class Xth Hindi book, Sparsh, which is Dedicated to Teesri Kasam and Shailendra, who is the producer of this movie. The name of the chapter is Teesri Kasam ke Shilpkar Shailendra (Shailendra-The Architect of Teesri Kasam)
The first film of Basu Bhattacharya as director.
This was the first film produced by song writer Shailendra and it is said that because of this film which caused Shailendra's death.
Based on the short story "Mare Gaye Gulfam" by Phanishwarnath Renu, often considered the most famous Hindi/Hindustani writer after Premchand. The film's title was changed to "Teesri Kasam", an important plot device that becomes apparent only at the end of the story/film.
