Martha Hyer and Clint Walker in Le ranch maudit (1966)

Quotes

Le ranch maudit

Edit
  • [Gypsy is waiting outside the General Store. She's bored, and playing with the wooden beams. She sees a man sprawled out on the bench, his feet propped up on one end and his head on the other, his hat pulled over his eyes. He's sound asleep, and snoring loudly. Once in a while he would snort and grunt. Gypsy walks up to him and prods one of his feet. The man, Hank, grunts and wakes up]
  • Gypsy Cole: Are you sick?
  • Hank: No. I was just, uh, just thinking. Care to sit and think a spell, Rosebud?
  • Gypsy Cole: My name ain't Rosebud, it's Gypsy.
  • [Hank laughs warmly]
  • Hank: Shake hands with a champeen.
  • [Hank snorts and clears his throat before drifting off again. Gypsy gets up onto the adjacent bench, lies down and pulls her bonnet over her eyes in a mimicry of Hank]
  • Angela Cole: Gypsy, how many times have I told you not to call your daddy "Big Jim"?
  • Gypsy Cole: That's his name, ain't it?
  • Tad Curry: [to Gypsy] You smell like a skunk.
  • [Gypsy kicks him in the shin]
  • Jim Cole: [to Gypsy] Go help your mother.
  • Gypsy Cole: I don't like him.
  • Jim Cole: Git!
  • Gypsy Cole: [upset] I'm going to do that right now!
  • Wilhelmina Peterson: Hey! Where's that good looking feller?
  • Jim Cole: Who?
  • Wilhelmina Peterson: Potts. Sam Potts. Ain't he a friend of your'n?
  • Gypsy Cole: [seeing Charlie get beaten up by the local boys] Oh, boy! A fight!
  • Jed Curry: Well... Adam's dead. Phil won't have a left arm, ever again. They got on old Satan's trail before we did. And he doubled back on 'em. Well, this is no job for these men. I need a professional.
  • Cass Dowdy: Sam?
  • Jim Cole: Yeah.
  • Cass Dowdy: You better go bury your dead.
  • Jim Cole: I wanna tell you boys something. I left a lot of trouble behind me in Utah territory and I'd like to leave it there.
  • Sam Potts: Jim, Jim! Ol' Duncan... He's deader than a bee in the blizzard.
  • Cotton Benson: If Cal Curry heard what I'm about to tell you, he'd shoot me for it. Your daddy won that land in a poker game.
  • Cotton Benson: [on Satan the bear] He's got the heart of a cougar and he can out-think any man.
  • Hank: [of Hazel] She's sharper than a hound's tooth.
  • [Wilhelmina pokes Hank, who is lazing on a bench, with a broom. Hank hollers and almost falls off the bench]
  • Wilhelmina Peterson: Get out, Hank! Come on. This here Mr. Cole wants to buy himself some stock. It's worth a dollar to him if you show him around.
  • Hank: For a dollar can't I just point?
  • [Gypsy and Hank are watching a caterpillar crawling up a blade of grass]
  • Gypsy Cole: You know something, Champ-een?
  • Hank: What's that, Rosebud?
  • Gypsy Cole: He looks something like you.
  • Hank: [laughing] Does, kinda, don't he?
  • Sam Potts: [mortally wounded] I'm... n-never gonna get to wear that fur, Jim...
  • [Gypsy and Hank are playing with a cat's cradle. Hank gets his fingers caught up in it]
  • Gypsy Cole: You got troubles, ain't ya, Champ-een?
  • Hank: [smiling] Hog-tied myself for a fair, Rosebud.
  • Hank: Every man's gotta have him a dream, and... this here's Jim's dream. His heart sure is in this land, ma'am. Sure is in it.
  • Jim Cole: One no good without the other.
