The Cat

Great family story

The movie has outstanding scenery and a wonderful message about a boys relationship with a big cat. It was great to have Peggy Ann Garner back on the screen as an adult actress, after such a long absence. The character that Miss garner played was named Susan, not Martha.

The Lad and the Lion

Believe it or not this outdoor adventure recalling 'The Window' was shot on the same ranch owned by Hal Roach just outside L. A. on which Laurel & Hardy shot 'Towed in a Hole' over thirty years earlier.

Centring upon a little boy and with a twee score by Stan Worth it's actually rather rugged with the young hero brandishing a toy rifle that when he finally uses it turns out to be a water pistol.

The most interesting credit apart from button-eyed Peggy Anne Garner as the boy's mommy is that for the 'nature photography' by Oscar-winning cameraman Vilmos Zsigmond back in the days when he answered to the name of 'William'.
