Butterflies

First up, there are two versions of this movie. One is soft-core and the other (you guessed it) is hardcore. Or explicit if you want to call it that. The soft version is for some reason longer (no pun intended) than the other version. I didn't do a frame by frame comparison or looked for it on any site, because I wasn't really interested in that.

Having said that, the movie is a classic story (sex scenes left out of that equation) of a village girl dreaming big (again no pun) and going out to the big world. In this case the very beautiful (and blonde) main character can not convince her friend to follow her, but her encounters are plentiful. This is above average, with or without actual penetration, but the story itself still is not that revealing or great to get too excited about ... worth a look for curious persons and there is always the fast forward button for the scenes you want to leave out

BUTTERFLIES. From Joseph W. Sarno, one the most acclaimed and legendary directors of erotic cinema, comes this classic story of a country girl's erotic awakening in the big city. Beautiful, young, and restless, Bibi (Marie Forsa) can't stand another day on her family's farm and with her boring country boyfriend (Eric Edwards). She dreams of becoming a fashion model and life in the fast lane, so she packs her bags and sets out for the city determined to experience every one of her glamorous and erotic fantasies. Marie Forsa stars with Harry Reems, a womanising charmer who beds everything in site. Bibi wants more, so moves on. Marie Forsa makes you believe she is having the best sex a woman can have. She was a real doll and in my mind the best erotic actress of the 70s.

First off , the trivia quoting Eric Edwards is almost certainly total bullxxxx. He says he was flown over to europe to do softcore scenes. Why on earth would the director of a softcore film go to the expense and trouble of flying over a hardcore performer to do softcore scenes ? Total nonsense , even more so when he says that he and Maria Forsa got so aroused they did hardcore because they couldn't help themselves. This is just egotistical bragging. Joe Sarno clearly filmed 2 versions , one hardcore , the other softcore. All the performers would have known this advance.

He was very lucky to do the scene though , as Maria Forsa is stunning in this film , though more so in her scene with Harry Reems. Eroticism is very rare in porno , but Maria Forsa had the capacity to look genuinely , totally orgasmic , a performance rarely matched in decades of porn since this was made. Maybe Hedy Lamarr matched her in Ecstacy a few decades earlier.

....It can no longer be called "pornography." This mind-bogglingly sexy, erotic film is infinitely superior to adult films like "Deep Throat" and "The Green Door," and yet it is virtually unknown, unlike those movies which have become household names. Boasting mainstream production values and the absolute most beautiful women ever to appear in adult films, this movie is meant to be watched from beginning to end, unlike any adult movies produced today. The super-cute Marie Forsa plays Denise, a young German country girl who feels like she is wasting her life living on her family farm. She dreams of being a high fashion model, and after leaving a note for her overbearing mother, hitch-hikes to the big city of Munich, in search of her idea of "the brass ring." She soon loses sight of her goal, once she is seduced by Alpha-Centurian stud, Frank, played by the legendary Harry Reems, who turns in a ferocious, inexhaustible performance as a womanizing nightclub owner. The inexperienced Denise has no understanding of the Alpha male mindset, and when she becomes one of Frank's many, MANY conquests to be used and tossed aside, she loses her illusions, and her innocence. And that's basically it; a tale of innocence lost...but filmed superbly. Director Joe Sarno wisely decides to film the erotic scenes in a tasteful manner. Those scenes are somewhere between softcore and hardcore, but never quite go into truly nasty territory. This ingenious method forces the audience to respect what they are seeing, as serious film. Sometimes less is more, and the imagination can be better than what is actually shown, and that makes it so much sexier. In fact I believe "Butterflies" might be the sexiest movie I have ever seen. I also wanted to note the attention paid to the interiors, especially Frank's apartment, or "lair," with every room a different color and so ornately decorated that at times it resembles a 70's space ship. Finally, this one could be a lesson to women who tend to fall in love with the kind of men that Reems portrays here; the kind of men that simply cannot be controlled, or possessed by any one woman. That kind of relationship is based on self delusion and is usually painful. For fans of 70's erotic films, this one is not to be missed. it is an absolute CLASSIC of it's genre. I recommend another adult film classic, "Sometimes Sweet Susan," also starring the incomparable Harry Reems.
