R D Burman tops the chart with his enchanting music. RD, Kishore Kumar and Rajesh Khanna trio.is likeable. Dongs are popular even today, in 2021!
Surely deserves at least 1 time watch by all old movie lovers.
Just to go little deeper, RK compelled to make high society girls' semi nude paintings is not brought out clearly. Besides, without doing any big tasks, he has been accepted as a sought after stylish fellow!! Suddenly we are informed that he is a good singer too!
In Sujit Kumar's party for his engagement with Tanuja, where blind RK sings a song (most expected!) Tanuja and her father are conveniently missing!! When Tanuja comes first time to Sujit's house, blind Kaka is missing and when Tanuja meets blind RK in her hospital, Sujit Kumar is conveniently missing! Wow what coincidences!!
But anyway, watch it!
This movie could be watched merely for the voice of Kishore and the music of RD Burman. "Kitne Sapne Kitne Armaan" is a gem: watch out for the spectacular entry of Rajesh Khanna at the start of that song and the magic yodeling of Kishore. The other gem is "Oh Mere Dil Ke Chain". This song is just sublime and one of the greatest, if not the greatest, romantic song of Kishore. The final Kishore tour-de-force, "Deewana Leke Aya Houn", conveys tremendous pathos and is nothing short of breathtaking.
Movies like Mere Jeevan Saathi come only once in a lifetime, like several others during that era. If you can relate to that era, watching it will move you again and again, with a tinge of sadness for a bygone period not to be found again, like it has done for me...

- TriviaProducer Harish Shah thrashed Manoj Kumar in his book. The distributor pleaded with Harish to delay his film Mere Jeevan Sathi and not release it with Shor. Rajesh was a super star in those days. The distributor agreed to give Harish the Bombay theatre Apsara to release his film provided he not release the film with Shor and release it the following week. Harish finally gave in and agreed. On the weekend Mere Jeevan Saathi released ,Harish went to visit Apsara theatre and saw the entire tickets were bought and now being sold for a cheaper low rate of rupees 25 by the black ticket scalper boys. This way the collections of Mere Jeevan Saathi would be low. Harish asked them why they were doing this to sabotage his film. They told Harish they were paid to do this. Upon further asking he found out it was Manoj Kumar who was playing this game. Manoj did not want competition from a Rajesh Khanna film. Manoj had bought the tickets and now selling it at a bad rate. A few months later Manoj feeling guilty sent a offer to act in Harish Shah's future film. Harish gave him a piece of his mind and declined the offer.
