    What A Drag

Starring Reg Varney who was at the time at the peak of his On The Buses fame. This film makes OTB look like an all-time comedy classic.

The script is woeful, written by someone with the surname of Hackney, which just about sums this up.

There are some interesting guest stars and of course there is a glimpse of Pinewood Studios. Given that most of the film takes place there it shows how low the budget is.

Varney and Rossington end up in drag which seemed to be almost obligatory for comedians of that era. They can't carry it off like Dick Emery can.

One just wonders what persuaded the Rank Organisation to invest money in and distribute this film.

    Not worth a double take

A booring, predictable chase and adventure film that features Reg Varney. On the run the two lads hid out in a film studio. By coincidence Generous Jim, the man who's after them arrives at the studio on other business. It could have been so much better. Lots of familiar British character actors of the 1970s.

    • Trivia
Debbie Russ appeared as Tiger during the part of the story about the filming of an episode of L'autobus à impériale (1970). In the Double Deckers TV series, Debbie's character always carried a stuffed tiger (also called Tiger). However in this film a lookalike had to be used for the stuffed tiger because the original had been lost shortly after filming of the Double Deckers finished.
