Agnes Moorehead's last theatrical feature film.

The only one of her 62 feature films for which Agnes Moorehead received top billing. However, this is also the second of only two films Moorehead did in which she was the lead, the other being 1959's Le Masque (1959) (Vincent Price received top billing).

Bette Davis was originally considered to play Delilah.

Robert Gentry fell off his horse and broke his arm on the second week of shooting.

While the producers held out hope that they might be granted a PG rating, the film was initially rated X by the MPAA. The film was unanimously granted an R rating on appeal with no changes made to the film.
