What Alderton Did Next...

Well written typical seventies sitcom.

George & Suzi Basset are a married couple going through a divorce who end up living next door to each other (as you do). The series follows their escapades and the ups and downs of living next door to someone who, even though you're divorced, you still love. For a 45 plus year old series this hasn't dated as badly as some, being particularly well scripted, and is a fabulous snapshot of early 1970's England, for those who remember such things. John Alderton plays the husband in his bumbling way, as seen in just about everything he does, and the lovely Hannah Gordon plays his (ex) wife. Watching this you can see where the inspiration for other similar sitcoms came from, I.e Just Good Friends... shame it only lasted for one series, although I guess there's only so much mileage in such situations. Excellent show.
