Warning! Contains spoilers for Green Arrow #14!
Green Arrow appears to be betraying the heroes by siding with Amanda Waller. Green Arrow's actions may hint at him working as a double agent against Waller. The true motives behind Green Arrow's betrayal are still unclear, leaving room for unexpected developments.
As the heroes of the DC Universe struggle against Amanda Waller's overwhelming forces, their efforts to survive are continually thwarted by Green Arrow. While Green Arrow is usually a hero, it seems that he's sided with Amanda Waller and is helping her take over the world. But I believe Green Arrow might just be the key to saving everyone.
Readers can see Green Arrow's apparent betrayal in Green Arrow #14 by Joshua Williamson, Sean Izaakse, and Amancay Nahuelpan. As the heroes of Earth scramble to fight off Amanda Waller's new Amazo Justice League, Oliver has only made things worse by handing over...

Jason Newsted is selling a collection of over 60 guitars and basses on Reverb — including bass guitars he played while he was in Metallica.
The Official Jason Newsted Reverb Shop is now open, and sees the longtime metal bassist parting with some choice axes from his vast collection.
“I’m teaming up with Reverb to sell some pieces from my collection for the very first time,” said Newsted in a press announcement. “The last 30 or 40 years as I’ve traveled around playing music for people, I’ve gathered some cool shit. I traveled the world to collect these pieces and many of these pieces have traveled the world with me. I’d like to get them into the hands of other players because I can only play so many at once, and wonderful guitars such as these should not live in cases forever…they deserve to be enjoyed!”

The Flash's recent live-action storylines have focused him accidentally dooming timelines, sidelining his heroism. This combined with the tendency to sideline the character has placed him in an awkward position in many DC releases. The absence of a Flash project in the Dcu's upcoming Chapter One suggests the need for the hero to be prioritized soon.
DC Studios' refreshed Dcu has the opportunity to revise several beloved characters, and I'm hoping they make the Flash a proper hero again. Superman will be released in the summer of 2025 and will launch the new cinematic DC Universe, following in the footsteps of Man of Steel, which launched the Dceu in 2013. Unlike its predecessor, Superman looks poised to deliver a decidedly more vibrant take on the titular hero flanked by several supporting characters that have yet to be seen in live-action in its first phase of movies entitled Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

Get to know rising star Jane Schoenbrun now. I Saw the TV Glow is groundbreaking for A24. The impact of TV programming can be devastating.
If you're not already familiar with rising star filmmaker Jane Schoenbrun, get to work Asap. I Saw the TV Glow will go down as a groundbreaking achievement for A24, and that's saying something for the studio and distribution powerhouse behind Everything Everywhere All at Once. Just one look at the promotional image that's been circulating for I Saw the TV Glow, and you'll catch Poltergeist "they're heeeeere" vibes. It's certainly fitting for this sort of retro horror-thriller about the "glow" of pop-culture thrills consuming the young, particularly those amid suburban decay with little else to do in their formative years. Combined with the growing pains of self-discovery of our identity, sexuality, and more, the impact of television programming can be devastating in a number of ways.

Exclusive: Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek Pinault and Brendan Fraser will star in Sacrifice, a film co-written and to be directed by Romain Gavras. Like his last film Athena that premiered last Venice and was released on Netflix, Sacrifice has a similar combustible and propulsive anarchy coursing through the film.
This is closer to satire, but the script by Gavras and Will Arbery was strong enough to compel the leads to commit over the span of four days since the script was sent to talent. More actors will be set shortly, and I expect that the project — CAA Media Finance is selling the world with Rocket Science — won’t have a lot of territories left by the time buyers hit the Croisette. All the elements are there to launch Gavras as a major writer-director, here making his first English-language film.

Squadron Supreme is Marvel's version of DC's Justice League, but with darker backgrounds and more government control over the heroes. Each member has unique powers and a complex backstory, adding depth to the team's dynamics and internal conflicts. The series explores themes of manipulation by the government, the consequences of immense power, and the struggle for control within the team.
The world of comic books has given us some truly fantastic heroes. Not only do they show us a world where people wield amazing superpowers, but they also show us how those people go about their lives, dealing with their gifts. Consider the two leading companies that have made their heroes a staple of pop culture, Marvel and DC.
One company has provided readers with a team of near-gods who have arrived from other planets or been here for centuries. A team with a member who wields an alien gem that can create tangible items.

Green Lantern is one character that has been walked over for far too long, according to fans. While every other member of the Justice League was at least given a fighting chance, Hal Jordan was cast aside and never brought back into live action after the failure of the Ryan Reynolds film.
Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern
Many fans have been begging for the character to be brought back in some way or another; be it in a series, a stand-alone film, or on the sidelines of another character’s story. Considering just how iconic and important he is in the comics, many do not think it is fair that the franchise has gone so long without actually incorporating him into the main series.
However, with the reboot and the DC Universe almost starting from scratch, James Gunn may have just teased something, and fans cannot control their excitement.

DC Comics has been a leading comic book publisher since it effectively gave way to the superhero age through the creation of Superman in 1938. Since then, the company has ballooned into a multimedia empire, covering games, blockbuster cinema, merchandise, and more. One of the things the franchise is renowned for is its footprint in animation, with classic shows like Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League and The Super-Friends setting the standard for Saturday-morning cartoons.
The world of DC includes thousands of entertaining characters, with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman forming the company's Trinity of heroes. It only makes sense that some of the best stories in the franchise would revolve around team-ups, both heroes and villains. From buddy cop-inspired action stories to Mission: Impossible-style covert ops, there's no shortage of these brilliant ensemble stories in DC animation.

The TCM Film Festival always brings out the stars, and this year was no exception as David Fincher (left) took to the stage for a Q&a before Se7en.
The theme of this year’s TCM Film Festival was “Most Wanted: Crime and Justice in Film.” You know what that means? Lots of cop and detective stories - be they young or old, eager or disillusioned, good or dirty.
The three films from this programming block I was lucky enough to attend span nearly sixty years, showing how much the crime genre has been pushed. From screwball comedy in the 30s, noir in the 50s and violent nihilism in the 90s, each new era brings with it a new interpretation of the same roles in society.
Throughout the week, I'll be publishing recaps of the films I've seen from the festival, grouped by similar themes or slotted under similar programming categories.

Zack Snyder made fans very happy when he announced that he is very much interested in finishing his Justice League trilogy. After his tumultuous experience with the 2017 film and the long-overdue Snyder Cut, the filmmaker is now ready to tackle the matter.
Justice League (2017)
After the release of his Netflix original project Rebel Moon, Snyder has now a way to turn his plan to continue the Justice League story, albeit with slight differences in format and storyline. As Warner Bros is very strict with the rights of DC characters, the director would have to be very creative.

After returning this past January with the announcement of their first new album in eight years, Justice are back again with a new single, “Incognito.”
The latest preview of the band’s upcoming fourth studio album, Hyperdrama, “Incognito” is a dancey, inventive track, primarily featuring grooving instrumentals colored by glistening synths and tight beats. Spanning four minutes, the track demonstrates the French duo’s new approach to their signature sound.
“Like many songs on this record, it switches from all electronic to all human music abruptly, multiple times within its four minute run,” the duo said in a statement. “The structure is dictated by what feels good at the moment it happens, without necessarily following any other rule. We had to unlearn everything we thought we knew about song structures, and music in general, when we started working on Hyperdrama, which was very refreshing.”

DC Studios is gearing up for a reboot under the keen eye of esteemed filmmaker James Gunn. And the word is, that the DC co-chair has big plans for the DC Universe. He has re-casted a lot of actors, completely revamping the Dceu, as fans knew it.
With this new era being launched with Superman it is only a matter of time before we get a Justice League film. The director himself teased this via his Instagram story. And if that’s the case, there’s a supervillain who wouldn’t probably be the first choice for a main antagonist and is highly underrated. But is definitely one of the deadliest across DC comics.

DC's The Brave and the Bold should explore Bruce Wayne's childhood experiences in more detail to provide context for his desire to be Batman. The new Batman must remember his "no killing" and "no weapons" rules, which were often forgotten in Ben Affleck's portrayal. The DC Universe needs to better distinguish between Bruce Wayne and Batman, highlighting that Batman is Bruce's true identity.
The new Batman for the DC Universe's The Brave and the Bold can learn several lessons from Ben Affleck's iteration of the Caped Crusader from the Dceu. After James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired as co-CEOs of DC Studios in November 2022, they immediately put plans into motion to completely renovate DC's live-action franchise, which included announcing new projects for their flagship superheroes, Superman and Batman. While Superman: Legacy will kick off the DC Universe's new film series in 2025, The Brave and the Bold will feature...

Captain Picard rejects Spock's famous quote that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, claiming that reality is more complex than that. Sacrificing Wesley Crusher would have detrimental effects on crew morale and trust in Picard, as he is a crew member and the son of a close friend. Even Spock acknowledges that his philosophy may not always hold true, as seen in his selfless act of self-sacrifice and Kirk's actions to save him in Star Trek movies.

The trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hints at a tragic storyline, involving family, lineage, and revenge. The villainous Black Manta is back stronger than ever, seeking to destroy Aquaman and targeting his family. If Aquaman loses his father, it will continue the dark trend of dead parents among the Justice League members.
The long-awaited trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is finally here, and it sets up the last Dceu movie to be shrouded in tragedy. Aquaman was a surprise box-office hit for DC that made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and that was in large part due to the film's success in blending high-octane action with effective character moments and cast chemistry. All of this seems to be returning for the sequel as the villainous Black Manta is back stronger than ever and looking to enact revenge on the King of Atlantis.

The trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom emphasizes Black Manta’s hatred of Aquaman. This kind of rivalry is actually rare in the Dceu, which largely failed to build upon or even showcase classic comic book rivalries. Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman all had rather disappointing takes on their main enemies, but Aquaman's movies appear to be a very different story.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the last entry in the DC Extended Universe, bringing back Jason Momoa's Aquaman for one final adventure. The main threat is Black Manta, who also returns from the first movie. The Prime Directive in Star Trek is meant to be a key rule in non-interference, however, its use in Tng season 1 is inconsistent and does not always make sense. In the episode "Justice," Captain Picard and his crew already violate the Prime Directive by interacting with the Edo people, who have not achieved space travel. The portrayal of the Prime Directive in Tng season 1 contradicts later episodes, where the crew takes more precautions in learning about new cultures and disguising themselves. Wonder Woman's traditional stereotype as a strong yet gracious warrior is not entirely accurate - she has always had a dark side. Wonder Woman is willing to kill villains if it means saving lives, as she believes it is her duty as a hero. While she believes in the rule of law, Wonder Woman has her own ways of permanently dealing with criminals who are too powerful for the justice system.
While Wonder Woman is commonly depicted as DC's hard-hitting warrior with an immaculate sense of compassion, there's a limit to the traditional wholesomeness she usually brings to a fight. After centuries of fighting on the frontline to protect the values of truth and justice, she's more than willing to end a fight — permanently.

Warning: Spoilers for Justice Society of America #6! Helena Wayne, the Huntress of Earth-Two, is being separated from Batman just as the two have been reunited. The daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle was just reintroduced into DC's main continuity in the Justice Society of America series. After entering present-day Gotham, she warns Batman of his pending fate, which then interferes with her own future of ever being born.
Huntress' journey is briefly followed up on in Justice Society of America #6 by Geoff Johns, Marco Santucci, Ivan Plascencia, and Rob Leigh. Two pages are dedicated to Huntress' story as Bruce and Helena discuss her future in this timeline, but only two pages are needed to establish that Helena is nowhere near Gotham anymore.
Bruce sets Helena up in a penthouse in New York City, keeping her far away from Gotham and, by proxy, away from Bruce himself.

Eric Kripke's "The Boys" emerged as a groundbreaking and thought-provoking series in an era dominated by superheroes on big and small screens. It tore away the glossy veneer from caped crusaders, focusing on the intricate issues accompanying god-like powers. With its unapologetically dark tone and satirical storytelling, "The Boys," adapted from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series, dismantles traditional notions of heroism, celebrity, and power dynamics. It portrays a world where superpowers and marketing prowess collide, creating a chaotic and morally corrupted landscape.
Starring Anthony Starr, Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty, "The Boys" garnered critical acclaim across its first three seasons. Its strong fanbase led to the approval of a fourth installment and a new spinoff named "Gen V." This fresh series introduces aspiring heroes whose powers derive knowingly from a manufactured element called Compound V.

While Batman is the most prominent hero of Gotham City, he's far from the only one. Even outside his trusted Bat-Family of heroes such as Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl, there are many superheroes and vigilantes who operate outside the Dark Knight's network, and wouldn't have it any other way.
Gotham seems to be a breeding ground for super-powered criminals and costumed villains, always hatching some scheme or other, so it’s a good thing there are so many heroes running around the city to lend a hand, even if Batman may not approve. While the Dark Knight considers Gotham "his" city, there are heroes who disagree, and fight to hold back the night whether Bruce Wayne likes it or not. Here are the twelve best Gotham vigilantes who would never dream of wearing a Bat symbol.

An amazing cover sees Harley Quinn become more destructive than ever thanks to an oversized mech. The Cupid of Crime's gigantic robot sees her take on the DC Universe in a tableau everyone has to see for themselves.
Harley Quinn has come a long way since her introduction to the Dcu. Once she was simply the girl Friday of the Joker, now she's one of the most identifiable characters that rivals the popularity of DC's iconic heroes. Since ditching the Clown Prince of Crime, Harley has been all over the DC Universe. She's formed her own criminal crew, fought alongside the Justice League, and even ventured to the pits of the Fourth World's Apokolips. There's never been an adventure too big or out of character for Harley. If the opportunity to cause chaos presents itself, Harley almost always seizes it.

The Justice League is one of the most powerful super-teams in comics, boasting a line-up of the greatest heroes in the DC Universe. The 1990s was a big decade for the team in particular, seeing them become one of DC’s biggest-selling titles, and some new heroes were influential to reach these new heights.
By the time the 1990’s rolled around, the Justice League was having something of an identity crisis. The Justice League International years that saw the title swerve into a more humorous direction had played itself out, and DC’s premiere super-team struggled to find a new identity. All of that changed in 1996, however, when Grant Morrison and Howard Porter revamped the super-team into Jla, which brought back the classic line-up of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman and paired them with the next-generation heroes like Kyle Rayner and Wally West. The title shot up the sales charts...

Although Batman is famous for his contingency plans against the Justice League, the original Robin Dick Grayson defeated his mentor’s teammates under more impressive circumstances. Mark Waid, Howard Porter, and Steve Scott’s Jla: Tower of Babel storyline changed readers’ perceptions of Batman by revealing that he planned to potentially exploit the weaknesses of his Justice League teammates if they ever went rogue. Unfortunately, these contingencies fell into the hands of Ra’s al Ghul, nearly destroying the Justice League. While Batman’s contingencies proved effective, the often-underrated Robin managed to take out the Justice League in a way that Batman could not.
In 2008's Teen Titans: Year One #3, by Amy Wolfram and Karl Kerschl, five of the Justice League’s heavy-hitters are brainwashed by the Antithesis, leaving their respective sidekicks to oppose them. The five sidekicks appear out of their depth at first, but Robin quickly takes a leadership role.

Police procedurals have always been perfect bets for networks looking for hits. Thanks to the numerous independent storylines, they are easier to keep up with, and as such, most of them maintain high ratings for a long time. Consequently, most offerings in the genre keep crossing the five-season mark in a TV landscape that's wildly competitive. However, there are some cop dramas that are surprisingly poorly made; hence they were never quite accepted by audiences.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe was busy changing the way Hollywood studios approach their biggest franchises (and all which that implies), The CW and DC were off making TV history with the Arrowverse. Much like the House of Ideas' multimedia superhero property, the Arrowverse was all over the place in terms of its quality and success. Certain killjoys would tell you its flagship series went on for way too long, while others would blame its limited resources and financing for preventing it from truly doing justice to the epic comic book arcs it adapted.
Overall, though, the Arrowverse was a daring experiment in the best way. That's why we're hitting the pause button and reflecting on its legacy before DC Studios head honchos James Gunn and Peter Safran usher in their shiny-new unified vision for all things DC-related.

As the Titans take over from the Justice League as DC's main A-list team, their biggest difference is about to take on a whole new relevance. Nightwing has become the focal point of the universe in the Dawn of DC and the Justice League has disbanded for the time being. That means that the Titans have now taken center stage as DC's premiere team. Titles like Nightwing have already placed the Titans in a bigger spotlight and their new status is going to be solidified once Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott's new Titans series hits the stands in May.
Taylor recently did an interview with Popverse where he spoke in depth about what to expect from the early issues of Titans and what it's like turning the Titans into DC's main ensemble cast. Speaking about what makes the Titans different from the Justice League, Taylor says:

Batman is famous for not particularly getting on well with other heroes, his only true superhero friend being Superman, but one of his biggest rivalries has always been with Green Arrow, and this is so strong that it spilled over to the two heroes' sidekicks.
Batman can be intensely meticulous and deeply paranoid, which often gets in the way of him working well with his teammates. It can also make it difficult for him to make friends, which is exactly why he can often rub some people the wrong way, including his fellow member of the Justice League, Green Arrow. Oliver Queen is extremely vocal about his beliefs and isn't afraid to call out anyone, including his fellow heroes. This has even led to Green Arrow saying Aquaman is practically a villain. Two Justice League International mainstays, Fire and Ice, are finally getting the spotlight they deserve - by being completely exiled from the hero community. DC Comics' newly announced miniseries, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville, will see this dynamic duo make a new home for themselves in Superman's hometown - and invite a huge supervillain brawl to its streets.
The latest Dawn of DC series, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville by Joanne Starer, Natacha Bustos, Tamra Bonvillain, and Ariana Maher, launches its first issue on September 5. Fire and Ice's new era begins in a prologue story by the same team in Power Girl Special #1, which sees the two tangle with Guy Gardner at a natural disaster in Baltimore. Guy, of course, "causes some major drama," and Superman decides to involve himself - ultimately leading him to practically exile Fire and Ice to his beloved hometown of Smallville. Enjoy the issue's...

It is unclear if this was because the series is being planned to tie into the Earth of Superman and Lois, or if the series' future is uncertain given recent management changes at The CW and DC Studios. In either case, it avoids a mistake made by the final season of Arrow.
John Diggle was among the many friends gathered for Barry Allen's surprise birthday party in The Flash season 9, episode 9, "It's My Party and I'll Die If I Want To." He was also among the people who were possessed by the villain Bloodwork, as he schemed to manipulate Kid Flash Wally West into helping him enslave multiple worlds across the multiverse. This threat enabled Oliver Queen,...
