Although Sir Ringo Starr narrates the movie, Harry Nilsson narrated the original soundtrack album, which was released by RCA Records. Nipper, the RCA dog, has a pointed head on the cover.
When the kids start selecting players for the triangle toss, they call for Harry, Fred, and Richard. They are in reference to singer and writer Harry Nilsson, director Fred Wolf, and narrator Sir Ringo Starr a.k.a. Richard Starkey.
Sir Ringo Starr was asked to redub the narration for the home video release because of his close friendship with Harry Nilsson.
This was the first animated film made exclusively for television.
