Rafael Vara's third Mortadelo and Filemón movie

The third and last collection of Mortadelo & Filemón shorts directed by Rafael Vara is also the weakest one, or maybe I was a bit tired after watching the other two. Unlike the others, this one uses a framing device: Filemón's crazy scientist cousin, Professor Chiflárogas, is visiting, with his time-traveling cupboard. That serves as excuse for the different stories, involving fantastic elements rather than the private detective stories of the first two films. The thing is that this kind of stories will work extremely well with the much funnier Professor Bacterio, once Mortadelo & Filemón are working for the TIA. However, none of that had been created in 1971. Chiflárogas is not that funny and the humor did not quite find that sweet spot typical of these Mortadelo & Filemón. Little kids will still enjoy it, of course. Rating: 5/10.
