- [Masagoro and his gang strut into Umeno's place and examine Sassa, who is passed out on the floor, with disdain]

- Sassa the yojimbo: [to Ichi at the conclusion of their final battle] Monster.
- Zatoichi: [to Sassa] Beast.

- Blacksmith Tomeyoshi: It's not sharp. Not made for killing.
