TikTok is doling out cold, hard cash as part of an effort to build up its creator base.
The popular video app appears to have established several referral programs that reward users who invite their friends to open their own TikTok accounts. One set of incentives, as discussed in a report published by The Information, revolves around TikTok Shop. Other creators have been promised credit on TikTok’s Promote hub or Amazon if they bring other creators onto the app.
Evidence of that referral system comes from creator economy expert Lia Haberman, who posted a TikTok screenshot on Threads. The image shows two reward options — either a $300 Promote credit or a $100 Amazon gift card — for users who successfully bring their buddies into the 1 Minute+ Growth Program.
TikTok isn’t dishing out these rewards for any old referrals. To get credit, referrers must onboard a creator with at least 10,000 YouTube subscribers or 100,000 Instagram followers.

As TV Shows Ace previously noted, The Flip Off is moving on without Josh Hall amid his split from Christina Hall. However, it seems like Christina remains intent on filming the series anyway.
Both the Halls and El Moussas have spent a lot of time and energy on promotional materials to showcase The Flip Off. The show can certainly continue in some capacity, but fans agree that it can’t continue in its original format if Christina is without a partner.
So what might happen now that Christina Hall is a single woman?
Christina Hall Resumes The Flip Off Production Without Josh
HGTV fans were stunned to hear that Josh and Christina Hall were pulling the plug on their marriage after three years together. Just days before their break-up, Christina told the press that she and Josh were incredibly happy together.
“I love where I live,” she told E! a few weeks ago.

Former Flip or Flop star Christina Hall and her third husband, Josh Hall, are pulling the plug on their marriage after three years.
The pair were preparing to launch their own home improvement show, The Flip Off, on HGTV. In the show, they would race to flip houses against Christina’s ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his current wife, Heather Rae Young.
Although Josh has appeared in promotional materials for the upcoming series, The Flip Off will reportedly move forward without him. It’s not immediately clear how this will work, considering some filming likely already took place.
But even so, Christina Hall reportedly never wanted this marriage to end. See what one insider had to say about this celebrity break-up.
Christina Hall Navigates Through Her Third Divorce
HGTV star Christina Hall is no stranger to hard work. Flipping houses is one thing, but keeping a happy marriage alive seems to be another battle.

This post contains spoilers for this week’s episode of The Curse, which is now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.
“It’s a Good Day” opens with two potential buyers prepping for an on-camera tour of one of Whitney’s passive homes. As is standard for The Curse, things are getting uncomfortable immediately, on both an emotional level and a physical one. The Seigels have decided — well, Whitney has decided, and Asher has gone along, because that is their power dynamic — that all buyers have to sign a letter in support of the Pueblo nation.

Norman Steinberg, the Emmy-winning screenwriter who teamed with Mel Brooks on Blazing Saddles and My Favorite Year and wrote for the Michael Keaton-starring Mr. Mom and Johnny Dangerously, has died. He was 83.
Steinberg died March 15 at his Hudson Valley home in upstate New York, his family announced.
Steinberg also wrote Yes, Giorgio (1982), starring Italian opera star Luciano Pavarotti in his feature acting debut, and co-wrote Funny About Love (1990), directed by Leonard Nimoy and starring Gene Wilder and Christine Lahti.
The Brooklyn native and former lawyer won his Emmy very early in his career, for his work on a Flip Wilson variety show.
His TV résumé also included developing Marlo Thomas’ 1974 landmark kids special, Free to Be … You & Me (he brought Brooks in on that); serving as a writer and executive producer on the first two seasons of CBS’ Cosby; and creating the short-lived CBS sitcoms Doctor, Doctor and Teech.

Norman Steinberg, screenwriter of the classic Mel Brooks comedy “Blazing Saddles,” has died at the age of 83, his family said through a statement by the Writers Guild of America East.

This time, it sounds like Christina is headed to the country. The new show, tentatively titled Christina in the Country, will follow the designer and real estate pro as she expands her business and puts down roots with her new husband and three kids. The six-episode series will premiere in late 2022—and its star couldn't be happier! "I am so excited and grateful Christina in the Country has officially...

If you go to see this, The Prank’s on you.
Unspeakably lame in every department—writing, directing, acting and intent—this immature little goof on a high school murder mystery is notable only for the presence of Rita Moreno, looking and sounding some twenty years younger than her actual 90 as a sinister school teacher who should have retired and abandoned her wicked ways while she was still ahead. Absurdly plotted and handicapped by two massively unappealing lead teen characters, this is a very unlikely entry in any film festival, but it nonetheless did debut at South by Southwest.
None of Maureen Bharoocha’s three previous films over the past seven years—Fatal Flip, I Am Watching You and the decently reviewed Golden Arm—has served to put her firmly on the map, and matters are not bound to change due to the dim-witted plot, lame dialogue and thoroughly obnoxious...

There seems to be a yearning for nostalgia in entertainment these days, given that our daily headlines are rarely upbeat and heartwarming, what with the country’s deeply ingrained political divisions as well as the ongoing threat of the Covid-19 pandemic. That might be why TV execs have been capitalizing on their audience’s hunger for comfort viewing with revivals of hits from past, ranging from “Sex and the City” and “Dexter” to “The Wonder Years” and “Gossip Girl.”
However, this holiday season will get a one-night only treat when the CW presents a new version of an early ‘70s classic, “The Waltons’ Homecoming.” The two-hour film that airs on November 28 at 8 p.m. features actor Richard Thomas, who played John-Boy in the original CBS TV series that premiered in 1972 for nine seasons and launched six more reunion movies for NBC. The television landscape was changing when the 23rd Emmy Awards took place at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood on May 9, 1971, with Johnny Carson as host. History was made in more than one way that night.
NBC’s “The Flip Wilson Show,” the first comedy-variety series hosted by an African-American, won the genre and writing awards. Wilson shared in both victories. And Mark Warren became the first black helmer to win an Emmy for his direction of NBC’s “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.”
George C. Scott, who had declined the Oscar just 24 days earlier for “Patton,” didn’t attend the Emmys either. However he didn’t turn down this award for his leading role in NBC’s “Hallmark Hall of Fame” presentation of Arthur Miller’s “The Price.” Jack Cassidy accepted on his behalf. David Burns, who had died two months earlier of a heart attack during a stage performance of the musical “70, Girls,...

Christina El Moussa, whose hit Hgtv show Flip or Flop details her sometimes rocky relationship with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, has remarried in a surprise ceremony.
El Moussa, who has her own show debuting next month on Hgtv, married British TV host Ant Anstead on Saturday in Newport Beach, Calif., People magazine reports.
The wedding surprised even its guests. About 70 friends and family were invited to watch the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade, but instead arrived via charter bus to a wedding. Anstead and El Moussa had been denying stories of their engagement that surfaced recently.
Present were children from both marriages. Tarek El Moussa, Christina’s co-host and business partner on Flip or Flop, was not mentioned in the story.
“We wanted to make it about the kids,” said Anstead. “It’s the six of us. We’re a blended family, so it was really important for...

Some of the youngest competitors on “World of Dance” had one of the biggest scares of the season in the third week of The Duels. While the Cubcakes Dance Crew were preparing for their routine 10 minutes before going on stage, one member landed on her head while practicing a move. But her tearful teammates didn’t let that stop them. They kept it together and performed in arguably the toughest Duel of the night: a three-way Junior Team Division battle in which the pre-teen Cubcakes had to face the older teenagers of Dem Raider Boyz and Flip.

A review of last night's "Mad Men" coming up just as soon as I'm the quick brown fox... "We both know things can't be undone." -Trudy "Says who?" -Pete "Mad Men" has chronicled a period of enormous social change (and taken place in a time of enormous change in television), yet it's often seemed agnostic on whether individual change is possible. Over the course of the series, fashions shifted and opportunities rose for women and minorities, but were the "Mad Men" characters themselves really changing with the times? Peggy has certainly grown, yet we've seen Don and Roger and Joan and others have epiphany after epiphany, only to eventually lean back on their old habits. (And even Peggy hasn't been immune to stagnation in her personal life, even as she's evolved professionally.) If anything, Don's frequent backsliding has been one of the most common complaints I've heard about the series'...

Real comedy still happens on late night, we can prove it. If you like Conan comedy gold, Fallon friendliness, cutesy Corden, list-making Letterman, kneedy Kimmel, and all the rest, I hope you’ll enjoy this column too.
Last night on late night, Martin Short and Cher horsed around with Dave, Anna Wintour put Seth Meyers to work, Conan talked with Nick Swardson and Helen Hunt, Dana Carvey showed up on The Late Late Show, and Kimmel got the Adam Levine treatment.
Late Show with David Letterman
Late Show continues its streak of amazing shows as Dave officially puts in his “two week notice”. Martin Short, one of Letterman’s best and most frequent quests, tells amazing stories. This one, about having to follow Tony Bennett as a young “boy singer” in 1974, is absolutely hilarious.

Didn't stay up to watch Wednesday's late night talk shows? Moviefone's got you covered. Here's some of what you might have missed:
Jimmy Fallon busted out his funny-yet-creepy Lip Flip routine again with "Tonight Show" guest and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" star Whoopi Goldberg, where the pair swapped mouths and interviewed each other posing as the other (including some hilarious attempts at various accents for both parties). The clip culminated in a rendition of the Aretha Franklin and George Michael duet "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)," complete with a semi-horrifying split screen shot of the two digitally altered comedians.
"Frozen" star Josh Gad also stopped by "The Tonight Show" to promote his new movie, the Zach Braff-directed "Wish I Was Here," but the animated Disney hit dominated the conversation. Gad told Fallon that his 3-year-old daughter doesn't care about his character, talking snowman Olaf, but thinks he...

We're feeling a little bereft. The Big Reunion has come to an end - though at least it was with a bang! The show went out in style with the much-trailed Hammersmith gig and now it's time to pack up our trouser skirts, heart glitter and gel pens and get back to our adult lives (well, as adult as we get anyway.) But at least the last hurrah was a good'un - here's what we noticed from the last episode of The Big Reunion's second series...

Rise of an Empire is a fine sequel to 300, but People's critic says you should check into The Grand Budapest Hotel instead. Here's what to see and what to skip in theaters this weekend. See thisThe Grand Budapest HotelWhimsy gets such a crappy rap. Granted, too many directors use it poorly, spraying their sketchily plotted, inartfully written films with cinematic chintz. But Wes Anderson is of an entirely different vintage. He uses massive amounts of whimsy - more than just about anyone else - but the difference is that he knows just how. Take The Grand Budapest Hotel, for instance.

So when he welcomes EW into his New York apartment for a home-cooked dinner one obvious question springs to mind: You’re not going to eat me, right? “No, but you’ll notice my girlfriend’s not here,” Damici chuckles, before handing out plates of spicy peppers and what one hopes are pork sausages to EW and We Are What We Are director and cowriter Jim Mickle.

The Wasteland:
Television is a gold goose that lays scrambled eggs;
and it is futile and probably fatal to beat it for not laying caviar.
Lee Loevinger
When people argue over the quality of television programming, both sides — it’s addictive crap v. underappreciated populist art — seem to forget one of the essentials about commercial TV. By definition, it is not a public service. It is not commercial TV’s job to enlighten, inform, educate, elevate, inspire, or offer insight. Frankly, it’s not even commercial TV’s job to entertain. Bottom line: its purpose is simply to deliver as many sets of eyes to advertisers as possible. As it happens, it tends to do this by offering various forms of entertainment, and occasionally by offering content that does enlighten, inform, etc., but a cynic would make the point that if TV could do the same job televising fish aimlessly swimming around an aquarium,...

While many might feel this article is a violent blast from the past, the intense theatrical and creative expression Limp Bizkit encompasses through their delivery, message, stage presence and theme remain unmatched by most. Lisa Marie Presley's fashion is often as surprising as her relationships. The only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley has evolved from a pouty-mouthed kid in cute cardigans and barrettes to a musician's wife sporting all-black and dark lipstick.
During her mind-boggling marriage to Michael Jackson, Presley stood beside the King of Pop wearing matching outfits and hairstyles. Her short-lived union to actor Nicholas Cage was filled with cropped tops and wacky printed pants. Even though the mom to model Riley Keough has had a few head-scratching style moments since saying "I do" to guitarist and producer Michael Lockwood, Presley appears to be enjoying the glamorous life.

Juliette revisits five of the best geek TV Christmas Specials, with help from Community, Blackadder, The X-Files, and more...
This feature contains spoilers.
Like Halloween episodes, Christmas episodes tend to be restricted to contemporary settings (though I should add a shout-out to 1980s British drama sequel Another Flip for Dominick, follow-up to The Flipside of Dominick Hyde, which actually problematized the lack of Christmas in the future). Also like Halloween episodes, they tend to be comedies, horrors, or comedy-horrors. And so, Season’s Greetings from a collection of ghosts, pagan gods and people trying and failing to get through Christmas without getting embroiled in hilarious hi-jinks.
5. The Big Bang Theory, The Bath Item Gift Hypothesis
Which Christmas is this? Sheldon complains that he chooses not to celebrate the Roman festival of Saturnalia, but everyone ignores him and gets on with celebrating the secular side of Christmas.

Actress and comedienne Phyllis Diller, a groundbreaking performer who paved the way for female comedians everywhere, passed away in her sleep this morning, at her Los Angeles home. She was 95 years old at the time of her death. Here is what her agent Fred Wostbrock had to say about her iconic career.
"She was a true pioneer. She was the first lady of stand up comedy. She paved the way for everybody. And she conquered television, movies, Broadway, record albums, nightclubs, books, and radio. She did it all. A true pioneer."
The comedy legend was born Phyllis Ada Driver in Lima, Ohio in 1917. After a stint as an advertising copywriter, Phyllis Diller got her big break at the age of 37, when she first performed stand-up comedy at the San Francisco nightclub Purple Onion. Her act often revolved around her fictional husband named "Fang" and self-depricating humor about her looks. In the 1960s and 1970s,...

Comedian Phyllis Diller passed away today at her Los Angeles home at the age of 95. Diller's agent Fred Wostbrock , who called her the first lady of stand up comedy, said Diller died in her sleep.
Diller broke into the comedy scene in 1955 at San Francisco's famed Purple Onion nightclub. Diller, who was 37 and a housewife at the time, won the crowd over when the owner gave her a substitute stand-up spot.
Diller found success in television, movies, Broadway, and as a recording artist. In the '60s and '70s Diller found an audience as she became a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, The Flip Wilson Show, and Laugh-In. Younger audiences discovered her from her stints on shows like Family Guy, 7th Heaven, and The Drew Carey Show. She lent her voice to the Pixar movie A Bug's Life. She also appeared in the raunchy documentary The Aristocrats.

“She was a true pioneer,” Diller’s longtime agent Fred Wostbrock told EW. “She was the first lady of stand up comedy. She paved the way for everybody. And she conquered television, movies, Broadway, record albums, nightclubs, books, and radio. She did it all. A true pioneer.”
The housewife-turned-advertising copywriter and mother of six got her big showbiz break in 1955 at the age of 37 when the owner of San Francisco’s now-defunct Purple Onion nightclub gave her a substitute stand-up spot one night.
