Action movie dreams are made of projects like Amazon MGM Studios’ The Wrecking Crew, which will see genre icons real-life man-mountains Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista joining forces for a Lethal Weapon-esque buddy-comedy. While updates have been few and far between since the project was announced a few years ago, Bautista and Momoa’s co-star, Spider-Man: No Way Home’sJacob Batalon, has arrived to provide just that, teasing some “crazy” and “ridiculous” action scenes.
Speaking with Joe, Batalon, who joins both Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, as well as Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Frankie Adams, Miyavi, Stephen Root, and Morena Baccarin in the action outing, also confirmed some plot details about The Wrecking Crew, revealing that the MCU and Dcu stars will play brothers hunting down their murdered father.

On Sherwood Schwartz's 1964 sitcom "Gilligan's Island," every character represented a different American class, and each one served a vital social function. The Skipper (Alan Hale), for instance, could be seen as a representative of the American military, while his sailing know-how provided the Island with a better understanding of their surroundings. Mary Ann (Dawn Wells) was a working-class character with knowledge of farming, but she was also a barometer of the Island's general mood. If she was happy, then things were going well. Gilligan (Bob Denver), meanwhile, was the innocent of the island, providing a plucky spirit of survival, while also offering something like a childlike perspective to the plight of the castaways.
The itinerant actress Ginger (Tina Louise) was weirdly vital. Many feel that Ginger, because she was so glamorous, provided mere sex appeal to "Gilligan's Island," but one can see that she also served as something of a morale officer.

Dave Bautista's time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is likely over. The Guardians of the Galaxy actor recently stated that there is only one way he'd consider coming back to the universe as Drax the Destroyer.
Bautista likely disappointed more than a few MCU fans when he told ComicBook.com earlier this week that "Drax is completely closed to me." The actor, who was promoting his new movie In the Lost Lands, shared that the only way he would even consider reprising the Guardians character would be if James Gunn, who wrote and directed all three installments, asked him to come back. "Unless James Gunn called me and asked if I would do something as Drax again, I just wouldn’t be interested. If James called me, which obviously is not gonna happen. He’s doing okay, he’s gone a different route," he explained, referencing Gunn's move to...

Wedding bells are stinging (sorry) in a new action comedy starring Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista. Jonathan Tropper, who wrote 2014's This is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project in 2022 (and was the creator and showrunner of Banshee) is scripting the new film for Amazon MGM Studios and Agbo. In an exclusive Deadline report, the outlet says that the two stars have signed onto the project and will co-produce with each of their respective companies.
The story is based on a wild series of actual events where two FBI agents played a couple in order to infiltrate a criminal enterprise in, you guessed it, New Jersey. The sting operation came to a head at the couples' staged wedding, where the criminal bosses were arrested as they checked in for their table assignments. While it sounds like a plan slightly more sophisticated than a free boat giveaway that would nab Homer Simpson,...

Exclusive: Anne Hathaway and Dave Bautista will star in an untitled action comedy that Jonathan Tropper is scripting for Amazon MGM Studios and Agbo. The film is inspired by an actual sting in which agents posed as a couple to infiltrate global criminal enterprises. It culminated in a staged wedding in New Jersey. When the crime bosses checked in for their table assignments, they were arrested and dragged away so as not to tip off the next suspect.
The film will be produced by Agbo principals Joe and Anthony Russo, along with Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Tropper. Agbo brought the package to Amazon MGM, its partner on a second season of Citadel and the upcoming feature The Bluff. Sharon Tate, a name that once sparkled with promise, became synonymous with tragedy the night of 1969. The very woman who once graced magazine covers with a smile, was now at the mercy of one of the most horrific crimes in Hollywood history. She was the radiant actress, the model, the adored wife of director Roman Polanski, and, above all, the expectant mother who would never see her dreams realized.

Not even Jason Momoa’s towering charisma could save this one! Fresh off Game of Thrones, the man who made Khal Drogo a household name took a swing at a $90M blockbuster that had all the ingredients for success—but ended up tasting like a burnt soufflé. The problem? Way too many chefs meddling in the cinematic kitchen.

After Sherwood Schwartz's hit sitcom "Gilligan's Island" wrapped in 1967, actress Tina Louise, who played the glamorous movie star Ginger Grant, was finished. While most of Louise's co-stars would return for "Gilligan's Island" TV movies and spinoffs, she would stay away from the franchise, pursuing other film and TV projects as her whims dictated. Dave Bautista has always been known in part for his sheer size, going back to his rise to fame as a pro wrestling star in WWE. He's now slimmer than he's been in many years, and the Guardians of the Galaxy star has commented on his physical transformation.
Bautista, whose latest film is the new action movie The Killer's Game, commented on his weight loss in an interview with Chris Van Vliet. His comments follow recent social media attention that has been given to his weight loss, with fans analyzing before-and-after photos to highlight the difference. Bautista explained that the change comes from overdoing it with his weight gain for 2023's Knock at the Cabin. After packing on some pounds for that movie role, Bautista worked hard to take the weight back off, only he found himself pushing it further.

Dave Bautista is a widely recognized actor who continues to enjoy many plaudits after successfully transitioning to Hollywood from World Wrestling Entertainment. Despite being a big star to so many, Bautista admits one of his co-stars in The Last Showgirl, is the only actor to leave him starstruck throughout his career.
Speaking to the press on the Toronto International Film Festival red carpet, Bautista revealed acting legend Jamie Lee Curtis left him in awe when they first met. The wrestler-turned-Hollywood mainstay recalled meeting Curtis in his native Washington D.C. during the '90s. "I was in Washington D.C. and still bouncing at the time. I got out of the car, and I was running into the store, and I almost ran into this woman, and I looked up, and it was Jamie Lee Curtis," he said.

After two successful collaborations in Dune and See, Jason Momoa will again team up with Dave Bautista in a buddy comedy titled The Wrecking Crew. Bautista himself pitched the idea for the feature in a 2021 X (formerly Twitter) post before Amazon MGM came on board. Since nabbing a director last year in Blue Beatle's ngel Manuel Soto, the project appeared to have been placed on the back burner with its progress seemingly hampered by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. However, we are now learning via The Wrap that the project is now receiving more attention with a new cast update. Danish actor Claes Bang (The Square) has been tapped for a role in the movie that will pit him against Momoa and Bautista's characters.

Jason Momoa And Dave Bautista Buddy Comedy The Wrecking Crew Still Happening — Claes Bang Joins Cast
It's hard to believe it's been almost three years since we first reported that Dune and See co-stars Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa are set to team up on buddy comedy The Wrecking Crew. But now, at long last, we've finally got an exciting new update on the movie that started with a tweet (see below). Per The Wrap's reporting, the Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) helmed film has found its lead villain in the shape of The New Look and Bad Sisters star Claes Bang.
Momoa and Bautista's See Season 2 showrunner Jonathan Tropper, who's recently landed gigs writing both Shawn Levy's new Star Wars movie and Chris Hemsworth Apple sci-fi The Corsair Code, has written the script — completed before last year's WGA strikes — for this one. Action movie stars and real-life living man-mountains Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista will star together in a Lethal Weapon-esque buddy-comedy movie titled The Wrecking Crew, it has been confirmed. The project, which began life as a suggestion by Bautista back in 2021, is moving forward at Amazon MGM Studios, and the movie has now found the perfect villain in Dracula star Claes Bang.
As per a report by The Wrap, Claes Bang, who is best known for his role as Dracula in the BBC/Netflix series based on Bram Stokers novel, as well as Ruben stlund's 2017 black comedy The Square and Robert Eggers' historical epic The Northman, will be the one to go up against Momoa and Bautista. Which, for any ordinary mortal, would be a hugely intimidating prospect, but Bang has proven time and again to be rather adept at portraying the kind of terrifying villain necessary to make the rivalry in any way believable.

He is best known for his starring role in Ruben stlund's 2017 film The Square. Bang will star with the ensemble in the Amazon MGM Studios production.
The project was first teased by Bautista in 2021, in a post that really took off and snowballed into a full movie. In the X (then Twitter) post, Bautista voiced his interest in making a buddy cop film with Momoa. Immediately, this piqued the interest of fans and the industry at large. On a balmy Thursday night, at the corners of Broxton and Weyburn Avenues in Westwood Village, a smattering of movie lovers bathed in yellow and blue neon lights snapped photos of a marquee.
They came to pay last respects to the Fox Bruin Theater, whose 7:30 p.m. screening of Twisters would be its last, the first time the Streamline Moderne landmark would shutter since opening its doors in 1937.
Regency Theatres, which in 2010 swooped in to save the movie house from potential extinction, opted not to renew its lease on that 670-seat theater, nor the 1,400-seat Fox Village Theater across the street.
But the Village found a savior in director Jason Reitman, who earlier this year led a consortium of 35 fellow filmmakers who banded together to purchase the property, with plans to renovate it and eventually reopen. No timeline or details have yet been announced on the project.

"Gilligan's Island" wasn't the most sophisticated television series ever to beam into our living rooms. For three seasons between 1964 and 1967 (and over decades of syndication thereafter), viewers turned in to watch seven castaways stranded on an uncharted island somewhere far off the coast of Hawaii attempt and inevitably fail to find their way back to civilization. In just about every case, their endeavors were bungled by Gilligan (Bob Denver), an energetic young shipmate with a heart of gold and a headful of rocks.
The show never deviated from this stupidly simple setup (despite the network's initial efforts), but it was so good-naturedly silly and energetically performed that you excused the rigid repetition. Kids loved the broadly visual gags, while parents could appreciate the ensemble chemistry generated between old pros like Jim Backus, Alan Hale, Jr. and Natalie Schafer.

Sherwood Schwartz's 1963 sitcom "Gilligan's Island" was a high-concept series that, thanks to the gods of syndication, remained in the public consciousness for decades after it went off the air. The show's impeccable theme song, written by Schwartz and George Wyle, may be the best theme in television history, as it handily explains the premise using a hummable sea shanty: five tourists boarded the S.S. Minnow -- manned by Captain Jonas Grumby (Alan Hale) and his first mate Gilligan (Bob Denver) -- for a three-hour tour off the coast of Honolulu. When the tiny ship hit some bad weather, the seven characters landed on a desert island, stranded. The series followed their merry attempts to survive.

Director Denny Tedesco previously scored a hit among music fans with his 2008 film “The Wrecking Crew,” a documentary about the battalion of 1960s studio musicians whose names were little known even among the cognoscenti, until these unknown soldiers started to quietly get their due decades later. Although it took another 15 years after that film to come to fruition, Tedesco had an easy go-to for an unofficial sequel. “Immediate Family” focuses on a smaller cadre of players that soon came to dominate the L.A. recording scene and who were, for a time, known collectively as the Section. One thing the earlier movie had that this one doesn’t was a sense of injustice corrected, because let’s face it — in the 1970s, everybody knew their names.
Well, let’s not exaggerate — maybe not quite everyone was devoted to fondling LP packaging and devouring it for information, even in the physical media era.

In The Wrecking Crew, Denny Tedesco lovingly chronicled a legendary collective of musicians, his father among them, who appeared on countless studio recordings in the 1960s, revered within the business but unsung in the public sphere. By contrast, the names of the four players he profiles in his new documentary appeared on nearly every record they worked on. Other musicians sought them out, fan bases were born, and careers flourished. And, it turns out, besides being extraordinary musical talents, they’re exceptionally charismatic interview subjects — sincere, soulful and effortlessly funny raconteurs.
Receiving a one-night theatrical release Dec. 12, three days before it’s available on demand, Immediate Family is an affectionate and insightful group portrait and a sweet jolt of nostalgia for boomers — but more than that, it’s time well spent with delightful subjects who played crucial roles in shaping the popular music of a ground-shifting era.

Angel Manuel Soto is set to direct a new Transformers movie after Blue Beetle and will continue working on the project after the writers' strike. The Transformers franchise has more in store for fans, including a planned trilogy and an animated origin story directed by Josh Cooley. There is still hope for a Bumblebee sequel, as the project has not been officially canceled despite no confirmed director or writer.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Blue Beetle, now playing in theaters
Ángel Manuel Soto has plans in mind for a Jaime Reyes/Ted Kord mentorship, should Blue Beetle return to the Dcu.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Soto teased the possibilities raised by Blue Beetle's mid-credits scene, which revealed that Jenny Kord's presumed-dead father and former Blue Beetle is still alive. "We really wanted to find a way to bring Ted Kord back. It'd not only be a part of the family drama that we've explored in the movie, but canonically, it's also something very special," he said. Soto also expressed interest in paring Jaime up with DC superhero and longtime Blue Beetle ally Booster Gold down the line, pointing out, "when James Gunn and Peter Safran came into power, they already promised the whole idea of exploring Booster Gold, and it helped us to keep the idea that Ted Kord is still alive.
