Mondo Trasho (1969)

Trivia

Mondo Trasho

Edit
While filming a scene featuring a naked hitchhiker, John Waters was on the campus of Johns Hopkins University without permission. When someone was offended, campus police were notified and Waters and his crew lammed it. They eluded the police for a while but were caught when they went to pick up the car and were charged with "conspiracy to commit indecent exposure."
John Waters admitted in later interviews that he believes this film is "way too long" and should have been a short film.
The Bombshell spends almost two full minutes of screen time waiting for the bus at the start of the film.
The music in the film was sourced from John Waters's own personal LP collection.
The bombshell is reading Kenneth Anger's "Hollywood Babylon" when she's on the bus. This was John Waters' personal copy of the book, and the very same book was featured in the 2023 Academy Museum exhibition John Waters: Pope of Trash.

Director Trademark

John Waters: [Catholicism] The Virgin Mary appears to Divine in several scenes.
