According to writer/producer/director Nelly Kaplan, Don Siegel told her that the title for his film L'Inspecteur Harry (1971) was inspired by the English title for this film, Dirty Mary.
The star, Bernadette Lafont, recalled the making of this film in a 1989 interview. She said her character's fight scene with her man had been largely improvised, rather than rehearsed, so when she kneed him in the groin, his reaction was genuine. The take ended up in the final cut.

The German subtitled version of the movie refers to the "Duc" (Duke) as 'Graf'. However, 'Graf' means 'count' (French: comte). The title 'Duc' should be translated as 'Herzog'.
