With every new trailer or image of the new Hellboy: The Crooked Man, fans seem to miss actor Ron Pearlman in Guillermo Del Toro’s Hellboy even more. The latest image of Jack Kesy’s iteration of the Dark Horse comics character seems to have irked fans again.

The upcoming film is based on creator Mike Mignola’s limited series of the same name and the comic-book writer has reportedly co-written the screenplay. This is the second reboot of the franchise in the last five years as David Harbour played the previous iteration of the antihero in the panned 2019 film Hellboy.

The Umbrella Academy season 4 is the final adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book series, debuting August 8. The new timeline sees the siblings without powers, facing higher stakes and enemies. Notable cast members include Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, and new addition Nick Offerman.

The final trailer for The Umbrella Academy previews a grand sendoff for the popular sci-fi drama. Based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, from showrunner Steve Blackman, the series premiered on Netflix in February 2019 and centers around a dysfunctional family of adopted superhero siblings who reunite to solve the mystery of their fathers death and the threat of an imminent apocalypse. The highly-anticipated Umbrella Academy season 4, which comes after a two-year absence, marks the end of the adaptation.

The Free Comic Book Day 2024 lineup has been announced, and this also means plenty of free manga titles along with the more traditional Western comic book offerings.

As reported on the Free Comic Book Day official website, a total of 48 titles will be available for free at all participating local comic book stores on May 4, 2024. 12 Gold Sponsor comics and 36 Silver Sponsor comics have been announced for 2024's selection, including manga such as One Piece, Initial D and Pokémon Adventures, among many others.

How Free Comic Book Day Got Its Start

Free Comic Book Day, also known as Fcbd, is an annual tradition dating back to 2002. In 2001, comic store owner Joe Field wrote a column pitching the idea in the industry magazine Comics & Games Retailer, and a year later, on May 4, 2002, the first annual Free Comic Book Day was held.

Mark Russell, the political satirist who delivered his wisecracks to the tunes of his piano on PBS specials for nearly 30 years, died today of prostate cancer at his home in Washington, D.C. He was 90.

His death was announced to the Washington Post by his wife Alison Russell.

Russell, sporting a bow tie and standing behind a usually flag-draped piano, was a staple of PBS from 1975 to 2004, where his bipartisan jabs and jaunty playing melded with the gently intellectual tone of the network. With a persona and style closer to Will Rogers than Lenny Bruce, Russell was an affable TV presence whose topical observations offered a family-friendly alternative during an era when George Carlin was saying seven dirty words and Saturday Night Live was making pot jokes.

Apple is turning its lens on the Iron Horse.

The iPhone maker/streamer is teaming with Universal Television and Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video to adapt author Jonathan Eig’s book, Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig, as a scripted television series, sources say.

Dan Kay (the upcoming Spider & Jessie) is on board to co-write the script alongside the author, Eig, and serve as showrunner on the drama, which is currently in the development stages. Eig will be credited as a co-exec producer. Peter Farrelly (Apple’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever) is attached as an exec producer and would direct the pilot should the untitled drama move forward. Michael Uslan, David Uslan and Charles Wessler will also exec produce alongside Saturday Night Live mastermind Michaels and his son, Broadway Video creative exec Eddie Michaels.

It’s unclear if Major League Baseball will be involved in the potential series.

Following their collaboration on Apache Delivery Service, the creative trio of Matt Kindt, Tyler Jenkins, and Hilary Jenkins are reteaming for the horror comic book miniseries Hairball, centered on an increasingly dysfunctional family and the cat that may (or may not) be the source of their destruction.

Ahead of the first issue's release this April through Kindt's Flux House imprint at Dark Horse Comics, we've been provided with an exclusive reveal of the cover art for the fourth issue, as well as a look at the fur-lined cover for the upcoming trade paperback release of Hairball!

Legendary filmmaker Walter Hill is teaming up with award-winning TV and comic writer Mike Benson to give Dark Horse Comics its latest neo-noir thriller: Cain. Anderson East reckons with a collective need for clarity in “Drugs,” the funky new release from his upcoming album Maybe We Never Die. The follow-up to 2018’s Encore, Maybe We Never Die will come out August 20th.

The plan is for Lively to play Josie Schuller. By all appearances, she is the perfect 1950’s housewife. But when she’s not catering to the needs of her family, she leads a secret life as a highly-trained killer for hire. She really likes the second job, and her husband has no idea.

Pic will be produced by Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment along with Lively and Kate Vorhoff for B for Effort.

Lively is coming off an action turn in The Rhythm Section and before that, The Shallows. She is repped by WME, Management 360 and Sloane Offer.

Cody most recently scripted the upcoming Madonna biopic at Universal, which Madonna will direct. Cody is repped by WME, Mxn Entertainment and McKuin Frankel.
