The producer wanted Saira Banu, but Naseem Banu rejected it because she thought Sunil Dutt looked to old for her. But, they worked in Padosan (1968) and other films.
This is Asha Parekh's second film as heroine, but her first film in color. Heavy lighting was required for the indoor shots, and the lights were so strong that they burned Asha's arm. The technicians rushed in a first-aid kit and used it on her.
This is the first of five films that Sunil Dutt and Asha Parekh were paired together. They enjoyed working together, except that Dutt would get shy doing love scenes, since Parekh's mother Sudha Parekh was on the set.
