After his fiancée elopes with a crooner,on the very day of his wedding ,a racing driver is about to commit suicide ;but like in Capra's "it's a wonderful life" ,his guardian angel ,who is not Clarence but a pretty girl dressed up as an air hostess, intervenes ;there the comparison ends ; the 1945 movie is a masterpiece , the Radvayni effort is only a pleasant little comedy ,with attractive actors and a lively screenplay.

This guardian angel is commissioned to help the desperate racing driver find true love in the shape of a gorgeous air hostess who is mad about him; her chief does not allow her to fall in love with her protégé ; hence the final sigh of relief :"fortunately it's a girl" .

A very good cast including Romy Schneider in a double role , Henri Vidal , the fifties heart-throb ,who after his prematured death shortly after the film,would give place to Jean-Paul Belmondo here a foil to him , Michèle "Angélique" Mercier whose glorious career in the sixties was short-lived .And in supporting roles,Jean Tissier as a MC and Paulette Dubost as Romy's mom.

At the time ,Romy Schneider ,in the wake of Sissi ,was making schmaltzy stuff with few exceptions : one of them was precisely "Mädchen in Uniform" Radvanyi's remake of Leontine Sagan 's thirties movie about lesbianism.

The next year,Radvanyi and his star teamed up again ,but for a light comedy.Hindsight displays its charm:Romy Schneider plays two parts ,an air hostess and a pilot's guardian angel;there's also handsome Henri Vidal who was to die the following year,Jean-Paul Belmondo ,on the verge of a very successful career,and Michelle Mercier the future Angélique Marquise des Anges.The action takes place on the cote d'azur and the landscapes are nicely filmed.Harmless entertaining stuff.

Pierre Chaillot , famous racing driver was ready to marry the Princess Augusta, but she runs away with a tenor. Pierre will then to commit suicide, but a guardian angel dressed like a stewardess take off his pistol. She explains that she will take care for his soul, he must forget his runaway fiancee , there are a lot of other interesting women in the world.

A quite pleasant comedy with a good cast: Henri Vidal, Michèle Mercier and Romy Schneider.

Obvious , a film for the evening after a tough work day. Nice, from cast to story, delicious superficial and just charming.

A love story, a guardian angel, very efficient, a racing driver, a not desired marriage perspective of a princess and , no doubts, a very young Romy Schneider , beautiful and remembering sparkles of Sissi series.

It is very easy to critic this too naif film , but its spring fresh can be a not so bad gift.

Yes, the potential of story is more significant than the modest result but few young actors and their reasonable work are enough for not be very dessapointed.

So, a nice film about love and a very - very efficient guardian angel.
