Sadhna (1958)

Trivia

Sadhna

Edit
This, like Naya Daur (1957), was a controversial story which had no takers, until B.R. Chopra heard the tale and converted it into a hit film.
Before this film, Sunil Dutt and Vyjayantimala worked together in Kismet Ka Khel (1956). They later worked together in Jhoola (1962) and Amrapali (1966) but this film was a huge hit.
Sunil Dutt worked in this film before Mother India. But, this film released later.
After Sunil Dutt's demise in 2005, Vyjayantimala talked about him that he was a true gentleman and rational artist. He was such a good soul that's why he left without causing anyone trouble. She further added that he was a perfect actor to work with as he never hesitated for doing woman centric films like Sadhna and Amrapali unlike the other actors.
When she heard the script, Vyjayanthimala was completely bowled over and indicated her acceptance of the role by giving B.R. Chopra a huge tray full of coins.
