Copyright dated 1957 and passed by the British Board of Film Censors with a "U" certificate on 10 January 1958. Unfortunately, United Artists in the UK seemed to lack confidence in this movie and shelved it for two years. It was finally shown to the London press on 21 January 1960 with a 10:30 screening at the United Artists Own Theatre in Wardour Street. Fort Bowie was generally released on 21 February 1960 and shared the bill with Le coup de l'escalier (1959).
Ben Johnson's character should've.been have been between 65 and 70. Ben Johnson was 40 at time the movie was released.
