Warning: Spoilers ahead for Mayfair Witches season 2, episode 3!Mayfair Witches showrunner Esta Spalding has explained season 2's Interview with the Vampire cameo, and what it means for the wider Immortal Universe. At the beginning of Mayfair Witches season 2, episode 3, Lasher (Jack Huston) is approached by Felix (Gabriel Freilich), a vampire drawn to him because of his inhuman nature. The pair have a conversation where the vampire encourages the reborn entity, since he's a new creature in this world. Felix is also an unnamed vampire, credited as "pale young vamp," seen helping Lestat (Sam Reid) in Interview with the Vampire's season 2 finale.
Speaking with TV Insider, Spalding explained how the idea of a vampire in New Orleans came about, influenced by wanting to tie Mayfair Witches more concretely into the Immortal Universe. The showrunner worked with Interview with the Vampire showrunner Rolin Jones, naming the young vampire while giving him a purpose in the show.

With films like “The Witch” (2015) and “The Lighthouse” (2019), filmmaker Robert Eggers has already strengthened his reputation as a critically celebrated auteur. And in “Nosferatu” (2024), he replaces the expressionist wonder of “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror” (1922) with the somber moodiness of his craft that shapes up the fictional town of 1830s Germany, called Wisburg, which is unaware of the oncoming of evil. In it resides realtor Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult) and his newlywed wife, Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp). There’s also their friends Friedrich Harding (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a rich merchant, and Anna Harding (Emma Corrin), who are happily married to each other with two daughters.
“Nosferatu” (2024) is dark and aggressively sensual but Eggers’ vision of the material is more of a treatise on power and evil. He makes the classic story of a real estate agent, Thomas Hutter, going up to the Pennsylvanian hills to secure a property deal with the...

The second season of Mayfair Witches, based on Anne Rice's horror novels of the same name, is off and running on AMC. The network has a plan to build out an entire shared universe of spooky shows based on the work of Anne Rice. The excellent second season of Interview With The Vampire aired last year, and later this year we're getting The Talamasca, named for the supernatural in charge of keeping tabs on vampires, witches, and so forth.
Agents from The Talamasca have already shown up in both Interview and Mayfair Witches, laying the foundation. Tongayi Chirisa, who plays Talamasca agent Ciprien Grieve on Mayfair, teased more crossover action in the future. "Without saying too much, a lot of things go down in the season finale that definitely open Cip's world up in a way that he was not expecting," he told ScreenRant. The next Interview with the Vampire spinoff gets an ominous new teaser, with The Talamasca inching closer to a debut. Mayfair Witches season 2 has just returned to AMC and AMC+ with new episodes, but the Immortal Universe is set to expand with a third series based on Anne Rice's work. The Talamasca is focused on a secret organization, seeded in both Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches, that's meant to keep track of supernatural creatures.
On X (formerly Twitter), the account for Interview with the Vampire shared a brief teaser. It is a brief message. A veteran of the organization (played by Elizabeth McGovern) makes a simple statement: “We watch the witches.” The teaser ends by restating that the Talamasca is always watching and always there. Check it out below:

Sam Reid is giving one of the best performances on TV right now as Lestat de Lioncourt on Interview with the Vampire, with his work on the series having already earned him a Critics Choice Award nomination. Before Interview with the Vampire's first season premiered, however, Reid starred in a very different series while giving an equally strong performance. The Newsreader, an Australian drama starring Reid and Anna Torv (Fringe), follows the tense world of television journalism in the 1980s and boasts similar vibes to AMC shows like Halt and Catch Fire or Mad Men as a slick period drama that shrewdly captures complex workplace dynamics. Fans of Reid’s bold, audacious energy on Interview with the Vampire will be amazed by how well he plays an anxious, eager-to-please news producer on The Newsreader.

It holds and possesses an allure of its own, drawing in new viewers even as it continues to expand. We are talking, of course, about Anne Rice's Immortal Universe. First up in this magically powered franchise in 2022 was the introduction of Interview with the Vampire. Starring Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, the Interview with the Vampire's electrifying storytelling was followed by the spellbinding allure of the Mayfair Witches in 2023. In recent times, both shows have secured new seasons, and Tongayi Chirisa, who stars in the latter as Talamasca agent Ciprien Grieve, has exciting news for fans of both shows. Chirisa reveals that both Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches are headed for a mouthwatering crossover.

Rowan Mayfair returns in Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches season 2, which premieres January 5 on AMC. Part of the burgeoning Immortal Universe, the popular show expands on the supernatural world that began with Interview with the Vampire. Alexandra Daddario plays Rowan, a gifted neurosurgeon who can't quite explain her uncanny ability to heal or hurt. After reuniting with her birth family in season 1, she discovers that she is part of a lineage of witches to whom a spirit named Lasher has been attached for generations.
Mayfair Witches season 1 ended with Rowan giving into her calling as Lasher's chosen witch and literally giving birth to him in human form. While he grows at lightning speed, her powers grow with him, but the demon made flesh leaves a trail of blood that may be too high a price for Rowan to pay. Her attempt to maneuver motherhood dovetails with her father Cortland's...

In 2024, I was excited to see horror expand in several ways, from original concept horror films (The Coffee Table) to media preserving horror history (El Vamprio box set) to anniversaries of significant horror films (Mahal). I also had amazing opportunities this year to have memorable horror experiences that included Dracula, Chucky, and Wednesday Addams. And without further ado, here are my favorites of 2024.

Confession. I’ve never seen Stranger Things. However, as a big fan of musicals, when I learned about this musical horror comedy parody, I had to watch it. Warning: This article contains spoilers for Mayfair Witches season 2 onward and Interview with the Vampire season 3 onward.
Mayfair Witches star Tongayi Chirisa has revealed how his character’s season 2 storyline could potentially set the scene for a crossover with Interview With The Vampire. Based on the series of best-selling Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy by Anne Rice, Chirisa first joined the Mayfair Witches cast as Ciprien Grieve, a member of the secretive order known as Talamasca. Set in the same universe as Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, the Talamasca, whose mission is to study and cover up the existence of supernatural phenomena, also made a brief appearance in Interview With The Vampire season 2.
Speaking with Screen Rant ahead of the upcoming January 12 premiere of Mayfair Witches season 2, Chirisa was asked whether there was a particular character from Interview With The Vampire he would like to see crossover with his show.

Let’s face it—most of us had that one flick that freaked us out as kids, yet somehow, we couldn’t look away. Interview with the Vampire (1994) was that film for many. It was one of those rare cases where the blood-curdling gothic drama wasn’t just a vampire flick, but a full-on immersion into dark, eternal immortality. With a cast led by two of Hollywood’s finest—Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt—it should have been no surprise that the film would charm, frighten, and maybe even haunt us a little.

And let’s get one thing straight: no one, and we mean No One, expected 12-year-old Kirsten Dunst to steal the show. But it’s not all roses and fairy tales in Interview with the Vampire. Dunst once shared that her casting story wasn’t exactly a fairy tale.

A Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival has been teased several times over the years, and thanks to ongoing comic books and Buffyverse audio adventures, the demand for a reboot has never waned. The original Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran for seven seasons from 1997 to 2003. The show spawned one major spinoff, Angel, which ran for five seasons of its own. The franchise has remained immensely popular, leading to the announcement of a new TV series in 2018. While this never materialized, the speculation around a revival of Buffy the Vampire Slayer lives on.
The rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer were acquired by Disney in 2019 with their takeover of Fox. Thanks to streaming platform Hulu, the highly bingeable seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer found a new audience too. With the rise of Buffy cast members like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan, followup comics and audiobooks, and widely publicized stalled reboot attempts,...

Everyone can change their mind, and it appears that Sarah Michelle Gellar could have done just that when it comes to her opinion on a possible revival of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The incredibly popular fantasy horror series that debuted almost three decades ago in 1997 has been circling a reboot or revival for almost six years now, but the idea has never managed to gain a foothold. Additionally, Gellar has frequently dismissed the idea of being involved in such a reboot if it did happen, but that could have changed.
During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Gellar addressed the idea of reviving Buffy, and now seems much more open to the idea. The change of heart appears to have partly been instigated by her latest role in Dexter: Original Sin. She explained to Barrymore:
“It's funny. I always used to say 'no', like, because, you know, it's in its bubble and so perfect.

How Did Matt LeBlanc Stop Lisa Kudrow From Quitting Friends? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Picture this: Friends without Phoebe Buffay. Yeah, no “Smelly Cat,” no banana phone, no “My eyes! My eyes!” Basically, a world none of us want to live in. But believe it or not, Lisa Kudrow almost called it quits after Season 3—and it took some Joey Tribbiani-level persuasion from Matt LeBlanc to change her mind.
By Season 3, Kudrow was running on fumes. She was playing the delightfully weird Phoebe on Friends and juggling her role as Ursula, Phoebe’s downright mean twin, on Mad About You. That double life? Exhausting. To make matters worse, her real-life sister Helena stepped in as Ursula’s stunt double for twin scenes, which only made things weirder. Imagine acting opposite “yourself,” but it’s actually your sibling? Yeah, not exactly a breeze.

At this point in his career, there is very little that Tom Cruise hasn't done. AMC+'s excellent Interview with the Vampire has bloody moments to rival the goriest horror movies. The gothic horror drama was released in 2022 and is in the middle of adapting Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles. This pioneering creator of gothic horror and fantasy novels popularized the vampire as an antihero, stepping away from the vampire as a villain. These complex works contain some of the most impressive character studies in the genre. It is good to see that the show is embracing this while welcoming full-blown horror.

Akashas (Aaliyah) bloody reign finally receives some much-needed respect, as the 2002 follow-up to Interview with the Vampire (1994) is now a Top 10 hit on Tubi. Its been over 20 years since the much-maligned Queen of the Damned opened in theaters, but the Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah-led horror flick currently ranks among some of the most-watched films in the United States on the free streaming service. And Queen of the Damned holds an average ranking of No. 9 for the week. So, why did so many originally shun director Michael Rymers film?
First, Interview with the Vampire stars, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, were noticeably absent from Queen of the Damned. Cruises Lestat de Lioncourt was portrayed by Townsend, while Pitts Louis de Pointe du Lac didnt figure into the sequels plot at all. Part of what made the original movie so memorable was Cruise and Pitts unforgettable performances and their undeniable on-screen chemistry.

Interview with the Vampire is one of the most popular and beloved vampire movies, and though there was material for a sequel, Tom Cruise was right in not returning and thus stalling a sequel but, at the same time, he doomed the franchise. Vampires are some of the most popular creatures in horror, and they continue to be a source of inspiration for many artists. In literature, one of the most successful writers in the vampire genre is Anne Rice, who, in 1976, brought the novel Interview with the Vampire.
Interview with the Vampire got a film adaptation in 1994, starring Brad Pitt as Louis and Tom Cruise as Lestat. While depressed about the death of his family, Louis is targeted by the vampire Lestat and turned into a vampire and his companion. Struggling to adapt to his new condition, Louis feeds on a little girl named Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), who Lestat turns into Louis companion,...

Interview with the Vampire director Neil Jordan explains his decision to cast a young Kirsten Dunst years later. Interview with the Vampire is a 1994 film based on the novel by Anne Rice, who also adapted the story for the screen. The plot follows the tale of a vampire named Louis, who recounts his life through a journey through love, betrayal, and more. Interview with the Vampire features a leading cast including Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, Dunst, and Christian Slater. The source material has since been adapted into the AMC series Interview with the Vampire.
Speaking with Variety, Jordan looks back on his decision to cast Dunst in one of the film's lead roles. In this interview, Jordan was asked how he was able to bring out such a great performance from the then-child actor while still protecting her from the movie's more disturbing source material. According to Jordan,...

Brad Pitt reportedly had a torrid time working on the 1994 Gothic vampire flick Interview with the Vampire. The film celebrated its 30th birthday recently, with director Neil Jordan taking some time to tell Variety all about the making of the movie and the actors that embodied the vampiric roles. The Warner Bros. film, based on the 1976 debut horror novel by Anne Rice, is packed with talent and led by Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas, and Kirsten Dunst.
The film centers on Pitt's character Louis' begrudged relationship with the vampire that cursed him, Cruise's character, Lestat. Having turned young girl Claudia (Dunst) into a vampire, Lestat then forces Louis to help raise her. While it sounds the stars would have had a good time dressing up as majestic nineteenth century blood-suckers, Jordan explained to Variety that, like his character Louis, Pitt was miserable during production.

Interview with the Vampire turns 30 years old today, and in a recent chat with Variety, director Neil Jordan spent some time reminiscing about his 1994 vampire classic, and revealed why his sequel never got made.
Based on the 1976 novel by the late Anne Rice, the film was released on Nov. 11, 1994, and would go on to gross more than $220 million at the box office. With numbers like that, The Vampire Lestat seemed like a sure thing at the time, but there was just one thing holding it back: Tom Cruise.
Jordan spent a considerable amount of time writing the script for the follow-up, which would have been a direct sequel, taking its cues from Rices second book in The Vampire Chronicles series that was published in 1985. However, even though Interview with the Vampire was a critical and commercial success, Jordan says Cruise wasnt interested in coming back as Lestat, which essentially caused...

Vampires never die. Not even sunlight and garlic can quash the enduring appeal of one of the most famous supernatural creatures in our mythological lore, especially when it comes to pop culture. For as long as cinema has existed, vampire movies have swarmed the screen, each offering a different representation of the mythic bloodsucker.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for The Vampire Lestat book, on which Interview With the Vampire Season 3 will be based.] There’s one character from Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles who has never been included in any of the onscreen adaptations so far: Gabrielle de Lioncourt, Lestat’s mother and his very first fledgling. That’s going to change in AMC‘s Interview With the Vampire Season 3, which is currently being written. Next to Sam Reid‘s Lestat, Gabrielle is going to be “the central character of Season 3, the most important character,” showrunner Rolin Jones previously told TV Insider. Fans (and I) are chomping at the bit to find out who will play her, but stronger than my desire for this casting announcement is my desire to see one particular Gabrielle book scene come to life in this upcoming adaptation of The Vampire Lestat, which will mark the first time the hit sequel novel has been adapted in-depth. ...

Why Couldn’t Tom Cruise Film Mission Impossible: Fallout In Kashmir? (Photo Credit – YouTube)
In a twist straight out of a Hollywood script, Tom Cruise found himself in a standoff with bureaucracy over filming Mission Impossible: Fallout in the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir. Can you believe it? The man who dangles from helicopters and outruns explosions couldn’t get a thumbs-up to film in one of the most stunning places on Earth!
Kashmir has long been the go-to backdrop for Bollywood’s romantic sagas, featuring in classics like Dil Se and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, but when Cruise and his crew came knocking, the doors were firmly shut. During a press tour, the star revealed, “We tried, but no one was having it.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently waxed poetic about how Kashmir could become a beacon for tourism and development. But while the Pm was dreaming big, Cruise was left holding the bag—er,...

Did Tom Cruise Sanitize Onscreen Intimate Content In Interview With The Vampire To Protect His Image? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise is renowned for his electrifying performances and dedication to his craft. He goes above and beyond to immerse himself entirely in any role he takes on. Whether performing death-defying stunts in the Mission: Impossible series, portraying complex characters in films like Rain Man or Jerry Maguire, or mastering new skills for action-packed sequences, Cruise has consistently pushed himself to deliver authenticity in every role.
However, there was a time when Cruise took on a role that required him to embody a literal creature of the night, portraying the menacing vampire Lestat in Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire. Cruise played the ruthless, evil character who committed horrific acts. Tom Cruise was stepping away from his usual roles for this character, but despite the dark and explicit nature of the Lestat,...

Horror anthology movies are not anything new. For decades, we have seen the horror genre pump out numerous anthology movies that tell many different short stories that are not always wholly connected to the films main plot. Films like Trick' R' Treat, The ABC's of Death, and VHS are just a few of the many examples of great horror anthologies. It's an underrated genre, with few masterpieces but lots of pretty great films. Keeping that tradition alive is the 2023 horror anthology, Satanic Hispanics.
Satanic Hispanics comes from a team of Latinos both in front of and behind the camera to tell a culturally specific horror story influenced by some terrifying folklore. To that end, Satanic Hispanics is a celebration of Latino heritage, as the many talented people that worked on the film get to show off their skills in the horror genre.

The best horror anthologies are more than just haphazard collections of short films mashed together to reach feature length. Movies with a unifying theme or filmmaking style are more successful at holding the audience's interest, and the Latino-driven anthology Satanic Hispanics makes its unique focus clear. There are still some slightly jarring tonal shifts between the individual segments, which range from heavy and intense to lighthearted and silly, and the framing story doesn't hold them together as well as it should, but, as an entertaining showcase for a group of underappreciated Latino horror filmmakers, Satanic Hispanics accomplishes its goal.
Most of the filmmakers involved with Satanic Hispanics are veterans of other horror anthologies, including Tales of Halloween and the V/H/S and ABCs of Death movies, and they clearly understand how to deliver a compact horror tale that fits within a larger framework. The framing story is often the weakest part of these anthologies,...
