Chicago – When the envelope was opened, containing the name of the Best Supporting Actress Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards earlier this month, it was veteran actor Jamie Lee Curtis who won the honor. She brought down the house with her memorable “we just won an Oscar” speech.

Mary McCormack is returning to the small screen.
Starz today announced the beloved actress has been cast in the role of Willie in the series Heels.
McCormack’s character is the business partner of Jack Spade (played by Stephen Amell in the series) and logistical brains behind the local wrestling organization who came up in the glory days as Wild Bill’s (Chris Bauer) valet, but grew tired of babysitting and left him just as his career took off.
His return to the local circuit complicates her life, as does the reflection of her younger self that she sees in Crystal (Kelli Berglund).

For the inquisitive Jerry fan, Shawn Levy’s 1997 King of Comedy: The Life and Art of Jerry Lewis, remains the first and last stop for the straight scoop on America’s premiere nudnik. Levy, who endured the full fury of the comedian’s legendary wrath to get his story, is as admiring of his subject’s accomplishments as he was repelled by his whiplash mood swings. The hard knock apprenticeship in the Catskills, the Freudian-fueled soap opera of his partnership with Dean Martin, the boastful sex-capades, they’re all there and then some.

Shooting will begin in early 2015, before opening at cinemas on July 22, 2016.

Paige Davis, Broadway stage actress Chicago and Boeing Boeing and well-known TV host of TLC's Trading Spaces and Own's Home Made Simple, is the spokesperson for Volunteers of America-Greater New York's Voa Operation Backpack 2013. This annual campaign collects brand new backpacks and school supplies for the thousands of children living in New York City homeless shelters. The drive continues through August 9th. Volunteers of America-Greater New York is one of more than fifteen Voa affiliates nationwide that conducts Operation BACKPACKdrives to outfit homeless students with new backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies.

You have to be 18 or older to see You Killed Me First, which, according to the Kw Institute of Contemporary Art, is the first exhibition on the Cinema of Transgression. There'll be a talk with Nick Zedd on Tuesday evening, followed by another with Richard Kern on Wednesday. The exhibition's opened this weekend and will be on view through April 9.
Also in Berlin, and starting tomorrow, the Arsenal will be screening a selection of titles from the Forum program at this year's just-wrapped Berlinale. Eleven films over eleven evenings, beginning with the three films by Yuzo Kawashima, The Sun in the Last Days of the Shogunate (1957), Suzaki Paradise: Red Light (1956) and Between Yesterday and Tomorrow (1954), and ending with the two restorations of films by Shirley Clarke, Ornette: Made in America (1984) and The Connection (1961).
Next week, the Arsenal wraps its series of films by Ulrike Ottinger by screening her Berlin Trilogy...

Jerry Lewis types one out in Who's Minding the Store?
The colorful and cluttered 1963 comedy film Who’s Minding the Store? marks the seventh of eight collaborations between star Jerry Lewis (Boeing Boeing) and director Frank Tashlin, including The Geisha Boy and Cinderfella.
Lewis plays Norman Phiffier, a professional dog walker who’s in love with the beautiful Barbara Tuttle (Jill St. John, Diamonds are Forever), an elevator operator in her parents’ Macys-like department store, Tuttles.
Disapproving of the couple and determined to break them up, Barbara’s conniving mother Phoebe (Agnes Moorehead, Citizen Kane) hires Norman to work in the store, where he is given a series of seemingly impossible jobs. But even as he takes on the difficulties of the sports department, ladies shoes section and shipping floor, Norman gets the jobs done — with slapstick to spare!

The pages were written with an old typewriter and it was very raw, so different to anything else. Sometimes, instead of characters' names, there was just pages of dialogue. It reminded me of how much as a kid I had resonated with adults outside of society, how much I liked their language and stories.
I got busy with other projects and they saw other actors.

While Patrick Stewart was knighted by the Queen last year, he has yet to be dubbed an Emmy winner despite four nominations. However, that could change this year as he is a strong contender for recreating his Tony-nominated performance in a TV version of "Macbeth." This new interpretation from director Rupert Goold sees the Shakespearean tragedy staged in a Soviet-like subterranean fortress during the Cold War. A little over two years ago, AfterElton.com brought readers a list of the 37 Hottest Guys in Theater, and since then, the New York Stage has only become increasingly sexified. The lines between Broadway and Hollywood continue to blur, and as young men come to recognition in NYC, they're often quickly whisked away to Tinseltown to showcase not only their amazing talent, but often they're breathtaking good looks.

Gershon: 'Agents' Lawsuit Is Without Merit'
Gina Gershon has responded to a lawsuit from her former talent agents, branding allegations she failed to pay them commission "completely without merit".
Bosses at Fortitude talent agency have accused Gershon of refusing to pay them the 10 per cent commission they're due for helping her book a job in the Broadway play Boeing Boeing.
The agents, who are suing for compensation, claim the actress made "several hundred thousand dollars" from the 2008 New York stage show but "chooses to forget about those people who help her in her career".
But the Showgirls star has refuted the claims.
A statement released to RadarOnline.com reads: "This lawsuit is completely without merit. Gina Gershon paid full commission to her representatives, talent agency Innovative Artists and management company Untitled Entertainment, who helped her book the Broadway play, Boeing Boeing."...

Neal Hefti, composer of the memorable Batman television theme music, passed away on October 11. He was 85 and had been in poor health for some time his son Paul reported.
In a career spanning many decades, the big band trumpeter was finally known for the theme in addition to other memorable film and television scores including The Odd Couple.
Hefti’s catchy “Batman Theme” was released as a single and went as high as #35 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. A version by the Marketts did better, cracking the Top 20 at #17. The theme song has been covered throughout the years by the Who, the Kinks, and virtually every surf-band on Earth.
A 1966 episode of the television series Hullabaloo, hosted by George Hamilton, featured two dozen girls dressed in faux-Batman costumes dancing to the LP version of the theme song.
