As at that time shanker & jaikishan were working separatly, jaikishan was composing for arzoo. One day filmaker of this film ramanand sagar needs a qawali song and he was in a hurry and jaikishan was out of country and sagar could not waited for him. So sagar went to shanker and shanker quoted the price of all songa in a whole film for one song, ramand sagar had to agree and shanker recorded the song jab ishk hojata hai, and sagar shot the song as planned.
The film was first titled Manzil Ek Musafir Do.
One day Ramanand Sagar called Rajendra Kumar to his office. Upon arriving there, he saw a man with crutches. He noticed the man was missing a leg. The man told Rajendra Kumar he use to always want to kill himself due to his handicap. But after seeing Aarzoo, he learned to he strong and learn how to face up to his problem in life. He hugged Rajendra Kumar and thanked him for acting in the film and changing his life.
This was the first A grade film Feroz Khan signed as second lead. His previous films Chhoti Bahu he was a villain and Suhaagan he had a very small role.
Ramanand Sagar was picturising a song on outdoor location, he had ordered many beautiful artificial flowers which looked like real from far east and had put it there on sets and it looked very beatiful. Then a minister of that place visited the sets and he thought the flowers were real and was very happy, liked the flowers,was impressed very much and told Ramanand Sagar that he dint know beatiful flowers grow in his town. Ramanand Sagar told him flowers dont grow there and he has kept imported artificials flowers.
