John Thaw in Redcap (1964)

Trivia

Redcap

Edit
Of the 26 episodes produced, 23 survive, which is relatively high for a British television series of the time.
The distinctive military theme tune was sourced from the KPM Music Library as so many TV and film themes were up until the 1970s. You can often here this piece of music in other TV and films productions worldwide, most notably as incidental music in the second season of the 1967 L'Araignée (1967) cartoon series.
The series was the first of many starring roles on television for John Thaw.
Even though John Thaw was only 22 when he was cast as Sergeant Mann, his advanced maturity gave him a considerable advantage for such a role.
Garfield Morgan, who makes two appearances in this series, would go on to play a regular role alongside John Thaw as his superior in Regan (1975) a decade later.
