Le roi Léo (1965)

FAQ

Le roi Léo

FAQ

No, it did not. Due to the series exhausting lots of plotlines one can have when confined to Africa. A list of other notable reasons include: 1. "Kimba" is actually a play on the word "Simba" which translates to Lion 2. Just because the actor that played Simba watched Kimba the White Lion, that doesn't mean he's a smoking gun purely because he had nothing to do with early production 3. Kimba is a child throughout the original series where he is the king of the jungle in his region, while Simba doesn't become the leader until he became an adult 4. "Comparisons" online cherrypick shots to make their point because they're comparing dozens of hours of Kimba footage to an hour and a half of Lion King footage. Additionally, much footage used is actually from the 1997 Jungle Emperor Leo film, released 3 years after The Lion King. 5. Osamu Tezuka's son went on record saying that he does not agree with the controversy, as The Lion King does not feature a white lion interacting with humans. Most importantly, he does not want to see his father's work used as a weapon by people who hate Disney.

Leo is what Kimba's name was in the original Japanese version. In the sequel series however, they brought back this name rather than Kimba, the name where many who watched the English dub knew him by.

Some obsure sources say the series was released there in the form of home video in 1983, and on Fox Kids in 1997. With later airings of the series in 2001 and 2003 with re-dubbed vocals.

Yes, while not the first anime in color, this is the first televised anime series to air in color.
