If Perry Como or Bing Crosby would have directed a nudie film in the early sixties, it might have looked something like NAKED COMPLEX. It's the mellowest movie I have ever seen. The story concerns a young man who seems to have everything going for him. He's handsome, athletic and dresses well but there is one small problem. He's terrified of women. This disturbs him so much that he decides to end it all by parachuting out of an airplane. "Unfortunately" he lands on an island populated solely by a colony of naked women. This film plays itself out at a pace that I can only describe as "lazy." It takes its own sweet time at getting to the end,all against a backdrop of relaxing music(including a cover of "Harlem Nocturne")and calm narration. If it were possible to live in a movie, I would want to live in this one(but with a better looking body than the one I have).Even though there are naked women aplenty, somebody from another planet(or maybe even another country) probably would never guess that this was meant to be a "dirty movie." Sometimes, when life gets to be too much, I put my VHS copy of NAKED COMPLEX into the VCR and things start to seem a lot better.
