Emmy award-winning comedian and TV host Wayne Brady is taking a cue from his late friend and fellow professional funny guy, Robin Williams, on how to protect his inner peace.
Brady of Let’s Make a Deal and Whose Line Is It Anyway? fame came out publicly in People as pansexual last August, which prompted the creation of his forthcoming reality TV series Wayne Brady: Family Remix, which promises to offer an intimate look at the star’s journey outside of the closet.
But it seems that over-publicizing his personal life has taken a toll on Brady’s well-being. In an exclusive clip shared by Entertainment Tonight, Brady tells his ex-wife (and current business partner) Mandie Taketa that he was “done” with the show. Taketa then responded that not only did he not need to continue with it if it “doesn’t feel safe,” but she also evoked his friend Williams,...

Wayne Brady and Robin Roberts will see which is more “outstanding” at hosting their respective television shows.
However, they’ll face other tough contenders as they vie for an illustrious award.

Drew Carey stepped into The Price Is Right spotlight as host in 2007 and has seemed to enjoy the role.
Drew took over for the legendary Bob Barker, who hosted the game show featuring pricing games for 35 years.
In addition, Barker hosted Truth or Consequences for 21 years during his television career.
Fellow game show host Alex Trebek hosted Jeopardy! for 36 years, while Pat Sajak claimed the record for longest-serving career as a game show host with the same show, Wheel of Fortune.
This year, Sajak retired from hosting Wheel of Fortune after 41 years. While Barker, Sajak, and Trebek had longevity as hosts, one might wonder if Drew will continue as long as these legends.
Based on his recent remarks, he isn’t planning to go anywhere yet but is preparing for contract negotiations in several years.

Until recently, Richard Simmons was such a recluse that ethically suspect podcasts were devoted to figuring out if he was still alive. But recently, Simmons has re-emerged publicly, at least on social media. Credit Pauly Shore’s misguided biopic efforts for encouraging Simmons to speak up again — upon hearing the news, the weight-loss guru took to his social accounts to say he wanted nothing to do with Shore.
After smacking down the Weasel in late April, Simmons hasn’t shut up, spinning yarns about his long career in entertainment. Last week, Simmons social media ran with a Late Night Memories theme, including stories about his favorite appearances on Late Night with David Letterman and Whose Line Is It Anyway?

It’s Wayne Brady’s first Pride Month since announcing his pansexual identity in August, but not much feels different for the actor and Let’s Make a Deal host.
“I think the only difference is my own visible stamp of myself saying, ‘This is who I am,’ and celebrating this month going forward and every other month and every year and every day,” says Brady. “It’s me.”
Audiences will get an intimate view of what that looks like on Brady’s upcoming docu-reality series, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, set for release July 24 on Freeform (and streaming on Hulu the next day). The show stars Brady, his ex-wife Mandie Taketa; their daughter, Maile Masako Brady, 21; Taketa’s life partner, Jason Fordham; and Fordham and Taketa’s young son, Sundance-Isamu.

On "The Vampire Diaries," Elena (Nina Dobrev) has been wreaking some serious havoc on Mystic Falls ever since she turned off her humanity. And it looks like things are going to get worse.

Before we tackle this week's exercise in believability-stretching, can anyone tell me why the "Previously, on The Following..." bit at the beginning of the show is always Exactly the same? Can you imagine if The Walking Dead started every single episode with a square-one reminder that there was a zombie plague that took over the earth? The only other show I can think of that does this at the beginning of every episode is Arrow, which seems to delight in reminding us that once upon a time Stephen Amell was stuck on an island with nothing but a very bad wig to keep him alive. At this point, if you don't know that Joe Carroll killed some chicks and escaped from jail, you should probably be watching something else.

CBS is keeping its daytime line-up intact, officially renewing "The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Talk" and gameshow duo "The Price is Right" and "Let's Make a Deal" for the 2013-2014 season.
The quartet airs alongside "The Young and the Restless," which had a previous multi-year commitment from the network, on CBS' daytime schedule.
"Over the past few years, we have successfully transitioned our daytime schedule to a balance of program genres with new creative energy, while maintaining our ratings leadership," CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said in a statement.

"[Gay rights are] perfectly all right with me. Some of the most gifted people I've ever met

"I'm a supporter of gay rights. And not a closet supporter either. From the time I was a kid, I have never been able to understand attacks upon the gay community. There are so many qualities that make up a human being... by the time I get through with all the things that I really admire about people, what they do with their private parts is probably so low on the list that it is irrelevant." -Paul Newman

We rejoiced when Boston model/actor Rob Wilson was announced as the The Price is Right's first male model. Hooray for bare chests adorned with price-tag stickers! Wilson will begin straddling jetskis and wielding Plinko chips for a one-week stint beginning October 15, and hopefully he'll do well enough that men become a permanent addition to the modeling staff. In the meantime, we have a few decades of game show brawn to remember:

The Avengers 2 will delve deeper into its characters, according to director Joss Whedon. The Much Ado About Nothing filmmaker described the creation of the superhero team in the first movie as the "beginning" and promised to deliver a more in-depth sequel. "The creation of the team is not the happy ending," he told Vancouver.24Hrs. "It is the beginning of something that is complex and difficult, and now I get to dig a little deeper. And maybe, while I'm digging, just twist that knife. And that's exciting for me." "It's still in the story stage. But I've been working on it pretty much from about an hour before I said, 'Let's make a deal'. It just caught fire with me. We're (more)...

As hobbits go, the contestant dressed as one on "Wipeout" (Thu., 9 p.m. Et on ABC) was far too tall, and he was wearing shoes. In "The Lord of the Rings," hobbits are known for their natural stealth, but not so much for their zeal of adventure, despite the ones featured in the stories.
This contestant must have had the fire for adventure, but even striking the Tim Tebow pose during the course wasn't enough to lead him to triumph. He calld out with cries of "for the Shire!" and even, "This is for Gandalf!" But alas, the end result for this hobbit was an all too expected journey into the water.
He was just one example of the bizarre characters that the casting directors for this competition show are starting to find. It's almost turning into a reality version of "Let's Make a Deal," only these costumed characters aren't...

We rarely associate hotness with game show hosting, but why is that? It takes bravado, rigidity, and charisma to run a good game show, and I'd say the same rubric applies to male strippers and So You Think You Can Dance contestants. In honor of the late Richard Dawson, the original host of Family Feud and an unforgettable Match Game panelist, I'll be tallying the hottest men of televised gaming. Please remember to phrase your cat-calls in the form of question.
10. Jeff Probst, Rock & Roll Jeopardy
Though he only hosted VH1's Jeopardy! spinoff from 1998 to 2001, Jeff Probst's dimpled cuteness and conversational hosting style were enough to substantiate him as a great emcee. Naturally he's better remembered for hosting Survivor for all of its 5,700 cycles, but he looked mighty fine standing behind Trebek's podium.
9. Richard Dawson, Family Feud
Richard Dawson was most known for smooching contestants and calling out "Survey says!

Because there aren't enough music-themed shows and game shows out there: Production company FremantleMedia has secured the rights to "Name That Tune," reports Vulture.
The show tested competitors' musical knowledge in a head-to-head face-off, and it's been nearly 25 years since an original episode aired in the U.S.
Fremantle, which has its hand in music-minded ventures like "American Idol," "The X Factor" and "America's Got Talent," isn't the first to try rebooting the show -- MTV gave it a go in 2007, CBS in 2006. Neither came to fruition.
The company has successfully revived "Family Feud" and "Let's Make a Deal," and it managed the host transition from Bob Barker to Drew Carey on "The Price is Right." So perhaps it can succeed where others have failed?
Take a look at the show in its golden era:

Today marked the big debut of "The Chew," the food-oriented chat show that ABC felt a worthy substitute for "All My Children." Whether viewers will feel the same, well, it's too soon to tell. But the studio audience? Big fans. You have never heard such an Excited Studio Audience since, well, probably "Let's Make A Deal" or some show that gives out free cars. Yes, audience members will be getting free food, but I'm wondering if someone was tossing twenties into the stands to keep the excitement level up. It's pretty clear that the more sedate, homey feel of most Food...

Sally Ann Salsano sleeps approximately 3 to 4 hours a night. This is because she is one of the most hands-on producers in reality TV, unable to stay away from the sets of her shows. And that attention to detail pays off. "Jersey Shore," Salsano's spin on "The Real World" is a runaway hit -- scoring some of the biggest ratings numbers in MTV history and making stars out of heretofore unknowns Snooki, JWoww, Sammi, Ronnie, Vinny, Pauly and Deena.
On Tuesday (July 12), another one of Salsano's projects, "Repo Games," returns to Spike TV. Zap2it recently talked to the producer about some of the show's more harrowing moments and the elements that make a reality show a success.
For folks who haven't watched it yet, could you explain "Repo Games?"

The idea came to Casey Anthony as she slept in jail. "I had a dream not too long ago that I was pregnant," she wrote to another inmate. "It was like having Cays all over again." The letter was released last year and takes on new meaning now that Casey's close to being set free: She was acquitted Tuesday on charges she murdered her 2-year-old daughter Caylee. "I've thought about adopting, which even sounds weird to me saying it, but there are so many children that deserve to be loved," Anthony wrote to inmate Robyn Adams at Florida's Orlando County Jail.

Miley Cyrus Bong Owner -- Let's Make a Deal!
The guy who owns the bong Miley Cyrus smoked salvia out of has finally come down come to his senses ... and now he wants to sell the infamous water pipe while it's hot!
When we last checked in with Mr. Bong Owner, he was telling friends he did not want to part with the item because it held "sentimental value."
Now the term "actual value" has entered his vocabulary, and Mr. Bong Owner tell us he's now looking to cash in. He's even set up an email account to field offers -- mileycyrusbong@gmail.com -- and thinks he can get close to "five figures."

(S05E16) "I've always been the voice of America." - Howie
Come on, Howie! Always is such a strong word, especially when you are rooting for acts that are as bad as Ronith's impersonations! Let's make a deal and switch "always" for "sometimes," okay?
Last week America voted for the acts that were indeed the best ones; would they do the same this week or would we have a surprise and see a not-so-good or a terrible act move on? After all, if everyone decided last night to vote for the underdog or follow Howie's voice and vote for Ronith, we could have an upset and see a very good act sent packing.
Did you favorites move on to the next round? Let's find out!

Game show legend Monty Hall presided over the various incarnations of Let's Make a Deal for more than 20 years. Though the current version is a success for CBS, don't expect Wayne Brady to stick around for that long.
In a recent interview, Brady expressed that he doesn't want the job to go on and on and noted that Let's Make a Deal has turned out to be a lot more consuming than he expected.
He told Beck/Smith, "Everything always turns out to be harder then I expect it to be. Whenever I tell myself, ‘Oh, I can do this in my sleep,' it turns out to be more difficult than I imagined."

While some game show hosts work very heavily with teleprompters, on the original Let's Make a Deal, Monty Hall made a lot up as he went along. He knew the games and how much money he had to play with but that was it. It's amazing to watch his old shows as he quickly adjusts for the unexpected.
Not long ago, deal-maker extraordinaire Hall, now 88-years-old, made a couple visits to the current Wayne Brady incarnation of Let's Make a Deal -- in honor of Hall's sixth decade making deals.
On one show, Hall was just supposed to do a quick game but something unexpected happened. Watch closely and you'll see Brady move in to take over. But, Hall wasn't even thrown for a minute before coming up with a way to make something truly memorable.

Do you suffer from fear of heights? Ever gone up in a tall building, looked down, and experienced severe vertigo? Does the thought of falling off a skyscraper give you nightmares? If so, the absurd new ABC game show "Downfall" is not for you.
The stakes are high in "Downfall" and not just because contestants are vying for upwards of $1 million in cash and prizes. The setting for this beat-the-clock quiz show from Freemantle Media North America (the company behind "The Price is Right", "Family Feud", and "Let's Make a Deal") is the top of a big city skyscraper and when contestants get a question wrong their winnings are going to get tossed over the side.
That alone strikes me as being a bit dangerous for those below, especially if those prizes include such traditional game show prizes as refrigerators and automobiles. Heck, even chucking a year's supply of Rice-a-Roni,...

So I'm watching Wheel of Fortune last night, the first new episode after Christmas. I was actually surprised that there was a new episode of the show (and Jeopardy). I thought they'd go into repeats like other game shows like The Price is Right and Let's Make A Deal this week.
Anyway, the show opens and Pat Sajak and Vanna White come out and greet the audience and the game is played. Then the duo come back for their banter before the show ends and they talk about Christmas and Pat asks Vanna how her Christmas went. She says it was good. And I sigh heavily and want to bash my head against my coffee table.

Another venerable soap opera has fallen. CBS has announced that they're cancelling As the World Turns after 54 years on the air.
In the wake of the cancellation of Guiding Light earlier this year, the soap's cancellation doesn't come as a big surprise. Like Guiding Light, World has been struggling in the ratings for some time. Both shows were produced by Proctor & Gamble (via TeleNext Media) and, for the first time in more than 75 years, the company will be out of the soap opera business.
World's viewership is about half of that of The Young & the Restless. Ultimately the success of Light's replacement, the new Let's Make a Deal, is what may have sealed the soap's fate. Deal is attracting more viewers, provides a better lead-in for The Price Is Right, and is much cheaper. There's no word yet...

So how's that working out for the Eye?
Well, after two weeks of episodes, "Deal" is drawing a few more viewers than "Gl" overall, up 7 percent in overall households (1.6/5) vs. the soap's 2008-09 average (1.5/5).
