The soundtrack was created by Frank Zappa, later of The Mothers of Invention. It was recorded at Chaffey College in Alta Loma, CA. He was 22 at the time and it was his first film score. He later said he hated the film and called it "the world's worst movie". He said that his score was an intentional parody of the music and style of Elvis Presley, whom he detested.
The film never had an official release but was repeatedly screened in Los Angeles during the 1960s. It mainly was used as a "midnight movie", alongside other low-budget exploitation films of the era. It reportedly gathered a fan following as a "cult film".
A couple of weeks before the film's scheduled release, a very young and clean-cut Frank Zappa made an unrelated appearance on Steve Allen's syndicated show, The New Steve Allen Show (1961). While conversing with Allen, Zappa claimed it to be the world's worst movie and that it had largely been filmed in El Monte, a working class city about 20 miles east of Hollywood.
