As we have mentioned many times before, the documentary is currently experiencing one of its golden periods, with the fact that reality goes beyond any script becoming quite obvious throughout the plethora of entries we have been seeing during that last few years. Furthermore, as a number of courageous filmmakers shed light to issues that are dangerous to depict (to say the least) or even hard to watch, the quality of the category continues to improve. Add to that the biographical ones, the ones that present real but relatively unknown sides of each country’s society and you have the majority of reasons for what we mentioned in the beginning.

Many actresses vied for the coveted role of Daenerys Targaryen, but everyone will agree that the part was truly meant for Emilia Clarke. The actress, who played the Mother of Dragons for eight seasons, has already become synonymous with her Game of Thrones role.

Interestingly, one Marvel star aspired to snag the part when she revealed in an interview that she read one of the famous monologues from the first season. It was none other than Elizabeth Olsen. Although fans believe no one can top Clarke’s performance, it would’ve been intriguing to see the WandaVision star’s take on Khaleesi.

Agatha All Along dropped some huge revelations in its latest episode, including the fact Lilia Calderu was the one who placed the sigil on William Kaplan before he died and returned as Billy Maximoff.
In a flashback, we saw Billy introduce himself to Agatha Harkness by saying his name was William Kaplan before more confidently stating, "I'm Billy Maximoff."
Explaining that moment in an interview with Deadline, Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer said, "When we revisit the moment of the sigil in Agatha’s house, he says William Kaplan first, and then he says Billy Maximoff, because it’s like a deep, dark, scary suspicion that he’s Billy Maximoff, and he doesn’t know for sure."
"It’s only after his power manifests for the first time - those blasties are the first time he’s ever had that capacity. It’s only then that he fully understands...

The 90s were all about the Olsen twins, but to everyone’s surprise, it’s their younger sister who really took off. Elizabeth Olsen followed in their acting footsteps, but when she made her big entrance into the MCU, most people didn’t realize she actually started in indie films.

Also, she values a good story, no matter the budget, the studio, or the paycheck behind it. With few demands, it seems like she’ll always be open to roles that genuinely interest her, and that’s all there is to it. On top of that, one of her standout traits is her fascination with unique, complex characters that challenge and surprise audiences on a psychological level — like she did in the Oldboy remake.

Early in her career, Natasha Lyonne auditioned for a major movie role that went to Neve Campbell. It may be surprising to learn that the film was John McNaughton's 1998 erotic thriller Wild Things, known for its twists and turns and sexual content (and seems worlds away from the roles we've seen Lyonne in).
At a screening and Q&a for her new film, His Three Daughters, Lyonne recalled the Wild Things audition process (via Variety). Lyonne, who describes the roles she would typically read for as "a tough chick with black eyeliner," was told to "dress like a Robert Palmer girl" for her Tracy audition. Lyonne slicked her hair back and wore heavy makeup. As it turns out, that's not exactly what they were looking for.
"I was nailing it. But I was definitely not getting that part. It was not what they were looking for."

Elizabeth Olsen's award-worthy performance in Netflix's His Three Daughters proves the harsh reality that she does not need the Marvel Cinematic Universe anymore. In the Netflix drama, Olsen plays Christina, who reunites with her estranged sisters, Katie (Carrie Coon) and Rachel (Natasha Lyonne) to help their sick father (Jay O. Sanders) during his final days. Following its debut at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival and after coming to Netflix, His Three Daughters' reviews consistently praised the three lead performances, which paved the way for a 98% critical score and 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Olsen's impressive performance comes at a time when her MCU character, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, is being frequently discussed. Her MCU return has been the source of speculation since the character's ending in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, although the discourse is now further amplified as the WandaVision spinoff series Agatha All Along releases new episodes on Disney+.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for His Three Daughters.
Carrie Coon's character in the Netflix family drama film His Three Daughters fights very hard to get her father's Dnr signed. The outstanding albeit small cast of His Three Daughters is led by Coon's domineering Katie, Elizabeth Olsen's eccentric Christina, and Natasha Lyonne's rugged and down-to-earth Rachel. Katie is the oldest and most demanding sister of Christina and Rachel in His Three Daughters. She holds herself and her sisters to high expectations, which has driven some wedges in between their dynamic over the years. Her animosity toward Rachel is particularly notable and tense throughout the Azazel Jacobs film.
His Three Daughters was released on Netflix on September 20, 2024 following a two-week theatrical run in select theaters. Marvel Studios has made yet another impressive addition to The Fantastic Four's cast, with Orange is the New Black and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne set to play a mystery character according to Deadline.
Yes, like Paul Walter-Hauser and John Malkovich before her, there's no word on who the actress will play in the MCU. Regardless, this is a huge get for Marvel Studios and, while there's no official word on Lyonne's role, we'd love to hear your suggestions in the comments section.
Lyonne landed an Emmy nomination for starring in Rian Johnson's Power Face and she's attacked to produce, write, and direct episodes of the upcoming second season.
Other credits include Taika Waititi's next movie, Klara and the Sun, as well as His Three Daughters alongside Elizabeth Olsen and the next Smurfs movie. Lyonne is also no stranger to superhero movies after previously playing Sommerfield, a member of the Nightstalkers,...

Netflix has acquired Azazel Jacobs’ sisterhood drama His Three Daughters, which stars Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen and Natasha Lyonne and bowed at the Toronto Film Festival.
The trio play estranged sisters forced to reunite when their father becomes seriously ill. The family drama sees the sisters converge as their father’s health steadily declines.
The deal, with a price tag north of $6 million, according to sources, represents Netflix’s third acquisition out of Toronto after the streaming giant picked up Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut, Woman of the Hour, for around $11 million after a world premiere at the festival. Netflix also nabbed the worldwide rights to Lucy Walker’s documentary Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa after it was presented as a work-in-progress screening at TIFF.
After Toronto Netflix also paid around $20 million for the Richard Linklater-directed Hit Man, which bowed in Venice and stars Glen Powell and Adria Arjona.

Elizabeth Olsen is heading back to the big screen in 2023 with a non-mcu movie, "His Three Daughters," which will premiere at TIFF23. Aside from her work in Marvel films, Olsen has primarily focused on television projects, including "WandaVision," "Sorry For Your Loss," and "Love & Death." "His Three Daughters" allows Olsen to showcase her acting skills alongside Carrie Coon and Natasha Lyonne, and serves as a worthy addition to her catalog of films. A break from Marvel is the best choice for her right now.

The gala at New York City's Lincoln Center also benefited the SeriousFun Children's Network of camps for kids with serious illnesses, which Newman founded in 1988. ★★★★☆Place is an inherent part of cinema, it's the sand beneath the feet of form and breathes around content whilst acting within the consciousness of the viewer not unlike the unseen but very much felt constant of existential dread. Two of the artists most associated with place (in this case Bengal) were the dual polymaths Satyajit Ray and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tragore. In 1964 they collaborated for the second time on a film, Charulata (following their 1961 effort Teen Kanya), back in cinemas this week. Ray called Charulata his favourite of all his films and the one that is he had to remake it he would change nothing. The film is also an adaptation of Tragore's novella Nashtanir, first published in 1901.

So this is what Oscar-bait looks like in 2014: a cast of dozens, playing an extended family with more disinterred horrors than Night Of The Living Dead and any five Tennessee Williams potboilers combined, on fire, in a claustrophobic rural Oklahoma farmhouse; meaty parts for a slew of great actors, the majority of the good ones for women of a certain age, and an evenly democratic distribution of volcanic outbursts for pretty much everyone from actor-playwright and adapter Tracy Letts, last seen playing the creepy incoming CIA chief Lockhart on Homeland. August: Osage County comes from a well-regarded play, which is always deemed a leg-up come Oscar time, and it's in the firm, safe, scissory hands of the Weinstein brothers, who have delivered no end of...

The suspense-thriller was released Friday across Bengal and shown in private cinema halls. The film is said to bear a resemblance to the real-life Park Street rape case in February, in which an Anglo-Indian woman was raped in a moving car.
The theatre is run by Kolkata Municipal Corporation, which is now controlled by West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress. The movie was pulled out of the Star theatre Saturday after being branded "anti-government".
