An atmospheric indian summer triangle drama.

Decent melodrama from the studio era.

Liana Kaarina plays a vamp- like young vagrant hitch hiker, who gets a ride from older industrialist who consequently takes her to his summer house to be his mistress. She takes full advantage of the situation and plans a prosperous marriage when she meets a young man while skinny dipping...

Surprisingly fresh effort from (the biggest studio mogul of Finland) Särkkä, who (with great help from the master cinematographer Olavi Tuomi) succeeds in creating a suitably sleazy atmosphere to unfold the drama in.

This one was a big success at first release and was sold to 32 countries. Mostly because of the nude swimming, I presume...

Passed by the British Board of Film Censors with an "X" certificate (for adults only) on 14 August 1962. The UK distributors Compton-Cameo previewed the film at their own cinema, the Compton in Old Compton Street, on 12 September 1962 (10:30 am for press and trade only). The London premiere was at the Cameo-Royal, Charing Cross Road on 11 October 1962 where it ran six-and-a-half weeks, sharing the bill with Diary of a Nudist (1961). Although not generally released on the major circuits, both films were booked by a large number of cinemas nationwide.
