The Coen brothers’ quirky cult classic The Big Lebowski has one of the directing duo’s best soundtracks, featuring songs from an eclectic mix of artists. This offbeat take on the film noir revolves around Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski, a zen slacker whose carefree existence is disrupted by a case of mistaken identity and a convoluted kidnapping plot that may or may not have been faked. The soundtrack full of breezy blues tunes and chill rock ‘n’ roll hits is a big part of the relaxed, easygoing mood of the Coens’ uniquely zany neo-noir.
While it received mixed reviews upon its release and initially bombed at the box office (via Collider), today The Big Lebowski is considered a comedy masterpiece, with a widespread cult following and even a religion in its name. This is one of the rare movie soundtracks in which the main character comments on how much he likes the music being played.

Nine's 'True Story with Hamish and Andy'..
At the half-way point of the 2017 ratings year, the Seven, Nine and Ten networks all have something to crow about, and Australian-made dramas and reality shows continue to dominate.
Seven.s primary channel has won the prime-time ratings battle for 24 consecutive weeks, ranks at .No. 1 in total viewers and in the 16-39, 18-49s and 25-54 demographics, and has the year's top show, My Kitchen Rules.
Nine.s boast is that it is the only commercial network to grow its 6 pm-midnight share across total people and all demos for weeks 7 to 26, excluding Easter, while Seven and Ten have lost shares on those metrics.
Despite its corporate problems, Ten says it delivered three of the top seven Australian reality shows among 25 to 54s, the top three game/quiz shows and the top four Us drama series.

Happy birthday! Today marks One Direction's Niall Horan's birthday—and he's turning 20 years old! They grow up so fast, don't they? His fellow bandmate Harry Styles tweeted in honor of the special occasion. "Happy Birthday @NiallOfficial …Behave yourself. All on red." Niall behaving himself? Well, that doesn't sound like any fun. The birthday boy also took to Twitter to celebrate the big 2-0. "Yesss ! I'm 20 ! Wohoo ! No more teens!" he wrote. And of course, what would a birthday be without a message from the official band's Twitter? Absolutely nothing. The account tweeted, "Happy Birthday...

He was friends with James Dean, dated Marilyn Monroe and made his movie debut with Hitchcock: Martin Landau, the voice of Mr Rzykruski in Frankenweenie, talks about his 60-year acting career
Midway through the interview, at the end of a monologue during which he has first marvelled at the way I can access the internet on my tape-machine (I can't) and then upset the coffee table by crossing his legs, Martin Landau checks and gives a rueful smile. "Anyway," he says. "You asked me a question a while ago. I'm sort of going on and on like a dial-tone here."
By this point it's clear that an audience with Landau will not run on conventional lines. Questions are not so much questions as prompts: an invitation for the actor to embark on another strolling pastoral through his 60-year career. He talks about the craft of acting, the actors he has...

Jeffrey approaches Sandy’s house, to pick her up for a date.
He wears a black shirt and a white tie.
Neither he nor the audience, at this point, know the meaning of the police car.
The lens flare cuts the screen in half horizontally.
In the fantasy, science fiction dimension of the film, the blue light is a laser beam, aimed at Jeffrey.
The car is Detective Gordon’s, the Man in Yellow.
He will enter the house, and will spook Jeffrey.
In response, Detective Williams will take him by the shoulders and tell him: “Easy does it, Jeffrey. Behave yourself. Don’t blow it.”
In a different context, he could be warning Jeffrey—who has just told Sandy that she “looks great”—to watch his behavior with her on their date.
What is Jeffrey a detective of, now?
“The idea was to eradicate it, not figure it out.

If you’ve hunted around for movie bargains, you’ve probably seen some of Mill Creek Entertainment’s 50-Movie Packs on DVD. Apart from other great releases by Mill Creek, these packs are phenomenal boons to cinephiles looking to collect older titles.
There are three new packs available, and I want to not only let you in on a discount code, but I have one of the packs available for you to win.
I know a lot of people may be quick to overlook these packs, and not every movie included stands out as a major value, but there are some great titles in each of them, and fans of the genres will be pleasantly surprised by what they get out of the deal. I have to admit that there is something about seeing a 50-movie pack, especially when it doesn’t cost a couple of hundred dollars, or more,...

Maisy James's dad flew a message over the house today. While housemates were in the garden, a plane carried the banner across the sky which read, 'Maisy - Behave Yourself! Dad'. Fellow contestants Heaven Africa and Faye Palmer comforted Maisy as she burst into tears at the sight of the message. Big Brother then instructed the housemates to return to the house from the garden. Watch (more)...

Actor who rose to fame in Hitchcock's Rope and Strangers On a Train, but refused to conform to Hollywood pressures
Early on in his career, the actor Farley Granger, who has died aged 85, worked with several of the world's greatest directors, including Alfred Hitchcock on Rope (1948) and Strangers On a Train (1951), Nicholas Ray on They Live By Night (1949) and Luchino Visconti on Senso (1953). Yet Granger failed to sustain the momentum of those years, meandering into television, some stage work and often indifferent European and American movies.
The reasons were complicated, owing much to his sexuality and an unwillingness to conform to Hollywood pressures, notably from his contract studio, MGM, and Samuel Goldwyn. Granger refused to play the publicity or marrying game common among gay and bisexual stars and turned down roles he considered unsuitable, earning a reputation – in his own words – for being "a naughty boy".
He was also the victim of bad luck,...

Cold War Kids celebrated the release of their new album Mine Is Yours (which hit the streets today) with a record release show on Monday night (January 24) at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles. Fans squeezed into the sparse warehouse space to catch the intimate yet in-your-face performance. The dim lights and plywood walls made it feel like the band — Nathan Willet, Jonnie Russell, Matt Maust and Matt Aveiro — were playing a backyard barn party — a very special treat indeed.
When we last heard from Cwk, they had just released their Ep Behave Yourself and were about to head to Nashville to record their next full-length. It marked the first time that the foursome worked with an outside producer (Jacquire King, the man behind the fist-pumping Kings of Leon tunes that you know and love).
The resulting album finds the Kids recapturing their signature soul-punk sound, but...

A while back I submitted an article that listed ten great full-length films to check out on YouTube and was pleased to find that some of you Owf readers were really happy to find such an article on your favourite movie blog! As we’re all undoubtedly skint in this longest, most depressing of months, hopefully one of the below can brighten your day!

Just as she was disappearing from the headlines and cleaning up her act, Lilo had to blow it by getting involved in Another scandal — but it seems like the whole thing was on purpose!
I’ve been a Lindsay Lohan supporter from day one. Throughout this entire last year of jail time, court dates and rehab, I’ve held out hope the 24-year-old actress will pull herself together and come back out on top, but now I’m beginning to doubt it’s going to happen. Lindsay is Obsessed with attention and trouble. She finds scandal like a duck finds water…and her most recent Betty Ford incident is no exception.
Both sides of the story seem shady to me. The Betty Ford Clinic lady claims Lindsay pushed her when she tried to give the problematic starlet a breathalyzer, after she waltzed in after curfew. Apparently, Lindsay refused the test...
