Brian Donlevy, Howard Duff, and Peggy Dow in Reportage fatal (1950)

Trivia

Reportage fatal

Edit
Rock Hudson appears (uncredited) as Ted, the doorman at The Bay View Club. Helping Howard Duff from his car, he says: «Good evening Mr. Early, glad to have you back».
Directorial debut of Joseph Pevney.
Lawrence Tierney, when he was a leading man for RKO from 1946 to 1948, hated villainous roles, as in, being the lead character and lead villain both, such as Dillinger, which made him a star, and others like Born To Kill and especially The Devil Thumbs a Ride. However, at this point, struggling to find work because of his drinking and arrests... and having been replaced in leading hero parts such as The Clay Pigeon and Follow Me Quietly, he was happy to work as the villain, and actually looked forward to being typecast, since many actors got rich from playing heavies.
The opening pan of downtown Los Angeles and Miklos Rosza's signature theme are taken directly from Robert Siodmak's 1949 film noir "Criss Cross" (Joseph Gershenson is credited as musical director). Universal International frequently reused Rosza's film score in subsequent studio productions, such as "Johnny Stool Pigeon."
As of January 2025, Anne Vernon is 101, and Peggy Dow, 97.

Director Cameo
