Myron Healey, Gloria Winters, Jimmy Lydon, and Gil Stratton in Hot Rod (1950)

Trivia

Hot Rod

Edit
The police car is a 1950 Nash Ambassador Super.
David is shown reading the actual September 1950 issue of "Hot Rod" magazine. Cover price: 25 cents.
There is a full screen shot of a newspaper headline shown when David Langham is first arrested for the supposed "hit and run". One of the news columns to the right reports on physicist Wesley M. Coates, who had generated X-rays using mercury atoms. Coates was a real physicist who got his PhD at the University of California-Berkeley and spent his career working with X-ray machines. He died on March 29, 1937, at the age of 29, accidentally electrocuted while working on one of his machines; this means that the production, shot in 1950, used a real newspaper that was at least 13 years old for this prop.
While the speedometer in David Langham's "blue" cut-down hot rod seemed to be working, the odometer only progressed one mile in all the running around and chasing.
Younger brother Jimmy Lydon is actually a week older than "older" brother Myron Healey.
