Trump Sending Marines To L.A. To Respond To Ice Protests; Potus Also Plans To Deploy Additional 2,000 Guard Troops, Gavin Newsom Says — Update
Image
Updated with Newsom comment: The streets of Los Angeles are calmer today after a weekend of Ice raids, protests, police actions and Donald Trump’s federalization of the California National Guard over the objections of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

However, as Newsom sues Trump over his “illegal order,” the White House has escalated the stakes with U.S. Marines now set to arrive in the City of Angels. The governor wrote on X that Trump plans to deploy another 2,000 National Guard troops, in addition to the 2,000 already sent to Los Angeles over the weekend.

Newsom wrote, “The first 2,000? Given no food or water. Only approx. 300 are deployed — the rest are sitting, unused, in federal buildings without orders. This isn’t about public safety. It’s about stroking a dangerous President’s ego. This is Reckless. Pointless. And Disrespectful to our troops.”

The number of Marines seemed to be somewhere between 500 and 700, according to multiple reports,...

Who Is Peacemaker Season 2's "Really, Really, Really Big [Dcu] Cameo"? These Are The Most Likely Possibilities
Image
During a recent interview, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn said Peacemaker season 2 will feature "a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the Dcu and from Superman." He also teased a "really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."

We don't think the filmmaker is exaggerating either. The season 1 finale featured the Justice League, with Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa reprising their roles as The Flash and Aquaman.

The new Dcu is still in its infancy, but with Maxwell Lord, Guy Gardner, and Hawkgirl already confirmed to appear in Peacemaker's second season, Gunn is bound to have some surprises in store for us. Here, we're delving into which heroes and villains are most likely to be the "really, really, really big cameo" the Superman director has promised us.

You can find the most likely—and outlandish—possibilities by clicking the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2 Reunites Dcu and MonsterVerse in Bold Sequel
Image
The MonsterVerse and the DC Universe are set to collide in a sequel that will once again see the Justice League face off against the biggest and baddest Titans. Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong rocked both worlds in 2023 and an upcoming follow-up promises a much more intense crossover.

This June, DC Comics and Legendary Comics are uniting for Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong 2, which will reunite the original miniseries’ Brian Buccellato and Christian Duce. In this new story, Amanda Waller utilizes Task Force X to help her develop hybrid Titans in order to ward off future attacks.

To stop Waller, the Justice League travels to the MonsterVerse’s Hollow Earth, where they once again discover monsters like Godzilla and Kong. This adventure not only promises to have much bigger stakes than its predecessor, but it will also feature ‘titanized’ versions of iconic DC Universe heroes and villains.

My Adventures With Superman's Clark & Lois Were Inspired By A Classic Western Anime
Image
The best Superman stories are the ones that nail the love story of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. On that front, the ongoing animated series "My Adventures with Superman" succeeds and soars like Kal-El himself. This Clark (Jack Quaid) and Lois (Alice Lee) are adorable apart and even more so when they're together.

In "My Adventures," Clark's bumbling nerd persona isn't just an act to divert suspicion from him being Superman, he really is that nervous around Lois. Lois is reimagined as not yet a master reporter, but merely a Daily Planet intern who wants to be one. She's less sardonic, more scrappy and ambitious, but still plenty clever. They've experienced some relationship trouble so far (between Lois's trust issues and Clark's fears of rejection), but it never feels artificial and they always come back together.

Though an American production, "My Adventures with Superman" often feels like the Man of Steel...

Breakout Norwegian Adventure Format ‘The Box’ Lands Second Season On TV2
Image
Exclusive: Norway’s latest format obsession, The Box, is getting a second season.

Commercial broadcaster TV2 has ordered a second run of the adventure reality format, in which celebrity contestants placed in separate boxes find themselves dumped in the middle of challenges that they know nothing about. Seafood TV will return to produce.

In Norway, the show launched earlier this month, and its first episode has now consolidated to over a million views, according to producers — no mean feat in a country of just over five million people. This makes it the channel’s highest-rated launch of the month, and de facto the year.

In each episode, contestants immediately find themselves in the middle of a challenge when their yellow box opens and must work out what to do, working with the others to achieve the goal. Each ep ends with a pair of contestants engaging in a duel to stay in the game.

'Creature Commandos' Star Addresses Major Death in Season 1 Finale
Image
Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Season 1 finale of Creature Commandos

The season finale of Creature Commandos dropped on Max today, wrapping up the story of Task Force M and their mission in Pokolistan once and for all. After plenty of intrigue, premonitions about the end of the world, and tragic backstories for each member of the Commandos, the series ends on one last sad note with the death of what was perhaps the most innocent member of the team, Nina Mazursky (Zoë Chao). Nina's death came after her attempt to assassinate Princess Ilana Rostovic (Maria Bakalova), in which the Princess ended up stabbing her to death instead.

The death was somewhat unexpected, especially with all the development the character had been given in the previous episode. In an interview with The Direct, Chao spoke about why she believed this untimely and tragic death had to happen to a...

8 Alternate Endings For Marvel And DC Movies Which Would Have Been Better (Or Worse) Than The Final Cut
Image
When you think of movies with alternate endings, we'd imagine the likes of Blade Runner and I Am Legend immediately come to mind.

While studios do occasionally test contrasting endings, that's rare, and it obviously helps any movie to have a definitive conclusion set in stone when cameras start rolling. For each of the Marvel and DC Comics adaptations listed here, however, things once looked vastly different to what we eventually saw in theaters.

DC's Creature Commandos Trailer Replaces The Suicide Squad With Something Stranger
Image
The DC Universe is in desperate need of a reset, and it's about to get one next year. DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have an ambitious plan for a unified DC multiverse, which they first laid out in early 2023. While that kicks off in earnest with Gunn's "Superman" movie next summer, it is technically the animated "Creature Commandos" that will usher in this new era for the Dcu. Fresh from the halls of New York Comic Con, we've got a brand new trailer for the series, which hits the Max streaming service in December. Have a look for yourself.

"Creature Commandos" is sort of a spin-off of "The Suicide Squad" in that it's Amanda Waller once again leading a team of not-so-good people executing missions that the good guys can't or won't do. We've also got some returning characters, most notably Weasel, but it's largely a...

10 Superheroes Who Define Their Teams in Pop Culture (Despite Joining Late)

Some iconic heroes weren't original members of famous superhero teams, joining later to become staples in the lineup. Characters like Star-Lord, Wolverine, and Kilowog made their mark in superhero teams after the groups were already established. The evolution of superhero teams showcases the dynamic nature of comic book storytelling and the long-lasting impact of new recruits.

When it comes to the sprawling comic book universes of Marvel and DC Comics, more superhero teams are fighting the good fight than fans can keep track of. Usually rostered by the most popular characters in each company’s back catalog of fictional creations, these teams — like the Justice League, Avengers, Suicide Squad, X-Men, and more — are defined by the champions who roster them, turning many of these heroes into household names in the process.

While most major heroes in both Marvel and DC continuity are founding members of their respective teams, like how Batman,...

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League May Already Be Dead and Buried on Steam, and Consoles Can’t Be Far Behind
Image
Initially, the idea of getting a Suicide Squad game from the studio that blessed the industry with the Arkhamverse seemed like an exciting prospect. However, things started going downhill when Rocksteady revealed that Kill the Justice League would be a live-service title.

That doesn’t even scratch the surface of all of the massive hindrances that the game had to face leading up to its release, ranging from numerous leaks to a disastrous early access launch.

All of these things definitely didn’t help Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League‘s reputation, but it seems that even after giving the game a fair chance, the majority of players have decided to spend their time doing something more worthy of it.

The Steam Charts for Suicide Squad Aren’t Looking Good Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League only managed to reach an all-time peak of just over 13,000 players on Steam.

First Dcu Show’s Rating Confirmation Is Great News For Future DC Projects
Image
Rick Flag Sr. actor Frank Grillo confirms that Creature Commandos' rating is a "hard R", which proves that the franchise is taking bold risks from the very beginning. Dcu animated shows will be able to cross over with live-actions movies and series, meaning that Creature Commandos' R-rated characters can carry their dark comedy and explicit violence with them into other titles. Other Dcu movies and shows that could be R-rated include The Authority, Swamp Thing, Waller, Peacemaker season 2, and possibly unannounced projects such as Justice League Dark and Lobo.

Creature Commandos' rating proves that the Dcu will take bold risks right from the get-go. The DC Universe’s first chapter begins with the animated series Creature Commandos, a team-up show that follows a black ops squad composed of mystical characters such as Eric Frankenstein and G.I. Suicide Squad: Ktjl Explains Why There Are 2 Arkhamverse Deadshots
Image
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League addresses the difference between Deadshots early on, with Captain Boomerang questioning why Deadshot isn't white as expected. In the game, it is revealed that the other Deadshot was an impostor, leading to a side plot exploring the history between the two Deadshots. The game hints at the possibility of the other Deadshot being a multiversal variant, with tapes suggesting that both Deadshots are legitimate versions of Floyd Lawton, and potentially setting up future storylines.

When Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was first announced, there was some confusion surrounding how the game was still canon to the Arkhamverse while featuring a different version of Deadshot to the one that appeared in Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Origins. While this new version could have been a successor to the mantle, accompanying promotional material confirmed that the master marksman's alter-ego was Floyd Lawton as well.

Why Wonder Woman Isn't Affected By Brainiac In Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Image
Wonder Woman is the only Justice League member immune to Brainiac's mind control, and attempts a non-lethal approach to free her fallen teammates in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Wonder Woman's battle against Superman ends with her reluctantly stabbing him with Kryptonite, but he kills her with his heat vision in return, with her turning back into her clay form. Wonder Woman's original clay origin and unique physicality, combined with the Sight of Athena, may be the reasons why she is immune to Brainiac's mind control and DNA alterations.

While most of the Justice League has fallen under Brainiac's mind control in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, there is one key member of the team who appears to be immune to this: Wonder Woman. While A.R.G.U.S. and Task Force X work on their plan to kill the fallen heroes, Wonder Woman can be seen attempting...

How Big Suicide Squad: Ktjl’s Map Is Compared To Arkham Knight's Gotham?

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League takes place in Metropolis, a new location outside of Gotham City in the Arkhamverse series. It introduces new characters from the DC universe. The Dceu’s Worst Reviewed Movie Ranks In Top 5 On Netflix 7 Years After Release
Image
Despite being the worst-reviewed Dceu movie, Suicide Squad is now the fifth-most watched movie on Netflix. Black Adam, despite being a box office flop, is the second-most watched Dceu movie on Netflix. Suicide Squad's success led to James Gunn joining the franchise and creating the well-received reboot, The Suicide Squad.

7 years since its release, the worst-reviewed movie in the Dceu has just ranked in the top 5 most watched shows on Netflix. Netflix recently saw a chunk of the Dceu timeline added to its platform, with a few notable exceptions, which suggests that it will be the new home for DC's first attempt at a cinematic franchise before the Dcu carries that torch. While the franchise is now coming to an end with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, its legacy lives on in Netflix - with one move in particular being watched surprisingly more than others.

According to Netflix's rankings,...

The Dceu's 7 Wasted Post-Credits Scenes Made Its Reboot Inevitable For Years
Image
At least seven Dceu post-credits scenes were left unaddressed, which sabotaged the franchise's set-ups for movies that never came. Only a couple of sequels paid off previous post-credits scenes, while the rest of the teases were either abandoned or only included for comedic purposes. The Dcu reboot aims to fix this mistake by establishing solid plans for each individual installment and the entire franchise simultaneously.

The Dcu reboot was secretly presaged by seven wasted Dceu post-credits scenes left unaddressed throughout the years. The Dceu aimed to become a massive cinematic universe in constant expansion, and thus set up at least one future storyline in every individual Dceu installment. However, various creative and logistical problems kept the Dceu from reaching its full potential, and constant changes of plans caused the franchise to abandon many set-ups and cameos. Now, the Dcu's square-one reboot will leave behind everything the Dceu had established.
