Daffy "mushing" Barnyard Dog is a reference to the dangerous 1925 antitoxin serum run from Anchorage Alaska to Nome, Alaska; where there was a outbreak of the deadly diphtheria bacteria. The Iditarod Race, still run in 2023 along the original route, commemorates this event.
Daffy emerges from a hunting decoy before parodying popular comic Lew Lehr's famous catchphrase: "Monkeys is da cwaziest peoples."

The good vs. bad conscience argument, shown here with the dog, was a popular humorous plot line in films of all kinds at the time.
