A classical comedic line-up: the handsome but not so smart guy, his smart but not so handsome sidekick, a pretty girl, her protective father and neurotic mother... Yes, it's been seen before. Having said that I still find this movie to be a bit groundbreaking in the sense that in 1948 Sweden was still a very puritanical country(believe it or not)and the sight of all those half-naked bodies running around on the beach and the naughty jokes doesn't really go with that.
Söderblom, as always, saves this film from being a total disaster and makes it one worth watching, although not one of his best. Järrel also puts in a good performance, while the rest of the cast is quite mediocre. It was Gunvall's first film as a director and you can certainly notice his effort of trying to make something new, fresh and never-before seen. It's a good effort but it doesn't go all the way.
