Dana Andrews and Henry Brandon in Comanche (1956)

Trivia

Comanche

Edit
Dana Andrews had a severe drinking problem during this period. While shooting this film he also fell in love with his leading lady, Linda Cristal, making her American film debut. While not big news in the tabloids stateside, Mexico--where this film was shot--had a field day with this news about the co-stars. When Andrews phoned his wife Mary and told her that even she would like Linda, Mary hopped on a plane to Mexico.
Quanah Parker (1845 or 1852 - February 23, 1911) was a Comanche/English-American war leader of the Quahadi band of the Comanche people. He was born into the Nokoni ("Wanderers") band, the son of Comanche chief Peta Nocona and Cynthia Ann Parker, an English-American, who had been kidnapped as a child and assimilated into the tribe.
Dana Andrews and Kent Smith appeared in "My Foolish Heart" starring Susan Hayward, but neither had any scenes together since Kent Smith was her husband in the present time while Andrews was her boyfriend in a recurring flashback.
There are some scenes where they are riding past a red rock mesa, but there are no red rocks in Durango, Mexico, so this could have been filmed in Southern Utah (Monument Valley) or Arizona. Or, it could be just stock footage that was added, because there are no closeups.
Prologue: "The period is 1875. The War Between the States had ended. But South of the Rio Grande, another more ancient and cruel war continued. Peaceful Mexican villagers were tragic victims---"
