The Shadow Strays trailer from Netflix prepares you for martial arts mayhem
Sunny Pang, Julie Estelle, Zack Lee, Iko Uwais, Very Tri Yulisman, Chelsea Islan, and David Hendrawan in Headshot (2016)
Fans of Timo Tjahjanto, prepare yourselves for his new action-packed follow-up to his films Headshot, The Night Comes For Us (both starring The Raid‘s Iko Uwais) and The Big 4. The Indonesian filmmaker has now unleashed the trailer for his new movie The Shadow Strays courtesy of Netflix. We’re treated to an ominous circuit of push-ups that our main character, played by Aurora Ribero, is doing as we get glimpses of some of the hardcore fighting action that she is training herself for.

The official synopsis reads,

“The Shadow Strays follows the story of Codename 13, a young assassin who finds herself suspended after a mission gone wrong. During her downtime, she bonds with Monji, a boy who recently lost his mother to a crime syndicate. When Monji disappears, 13 embarks on a quest to find him, even if it means going against her mentor and the organization she belongs to,...

MCU Rumor Roundup: Sydney Sweeney's MCU Role, Hawkeye Season 2 Update, Blade's Villain, And More
Image
We're back with another MCU rumour roundup and, should these prove correct, the franchise's uncertain future may have come into focus.

Earlier this month, we shared the news that Hawkeye season 2 may be moving forward, with a story inspired by The Raid. In that, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop will reportedly square off with the Avenger's villainous brother, Barney (a.k.a. Trickshot).

Now, Murphy's Multiverse's has chimed in to reveal that "a second season of Hawkeye does indeed seem to be in development and could end up on Disney Plus much sooner than expected."

With the action set in one location, it's possible Marvel Studios can shoot this pretty quickly, with the show presumably eyeing a 2026 release if this report is anything to go by.

Elsewhere in the site's own rumour roundup, they reiterate plans for Robert Downey Jr. to return as Iron Man in the Multiverse Saga.

Gareth Evans
Gareth Evans’ long-delayed Havoc is delayed yet again
Gareth Evans
Gareth Evans initially completed production of Havoc in 2021 – but now it’s heading off for reshoots, and a delay to 2025.

Despite wrapping production all the way back in 2021, we didn’t hear anything about Gareth Evans Havoc for a very, very long time. So long in fact, that we were beginning to wonder if the film had been quietly shelved.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Netflix had abandoned a film in post-production, look back at the recently-announced scrapping of the Halle Berry film The Mothership as Exhibit A, if you need evidence that the Silicon Valley company can be pretty ruthless if it feels a project isn’t cutting the mustard.

However, things took a turn for the positive last month when it emerged that Havoc was still alive and well, with its debut being set on Netflix set for later this year.

That was last month though,...

10 MCU TV Shows We Want To See Get More Seasons
Image
Marvel Studios will be releasing its upcoming TV shows under a new Marvel Television banner. Reviving Marvel Television raises hopes that more MCU shows could get more seasons, continuing some of the best MCU stories. Shows including Hawkeye, Moon Knight, Jessica Jones, Ms. Marvel, and Loki could potentially get new seasons in the McU's future.

Marvel Studios has recently revealed a rebranding of its upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps allowing more Marvel Television shows to continue with more seasons in the McU's future. TV shows adapted from the stories of Marvel Comics have always been released alongside Marvel's feature films, and this has grown exponentially in recent years with the establishment of Disney+ and Marvel Studios' own expansion into the world of TV. Unfortunately, the development of McU-set TV shows has had some noticeable teething issues, but recent updates prove that Marvel Studios is taking progressive steps to improve its TV production.

Boy Kills World
Image
The ‘badass guy goes on rampage after his family and/or dog is murdered’ genre is anything but original at this point — see the John Wick franchise as one of the ultimate examples, and Dev Patel’s Monkey Man as a recent one. Director Moritz Mohr tries to put a new spin on it with Boy Kills World by transplanting the setting to a zany, capitalism-fuelled dystopia, infusing it with video-game elements, and turning the violence up to 11. Unfortunately, the result is more of a derivative, headache-inducing imitation of the revenge thriller than a fresh interpretation of it.

We’re thrust into the silent protagonist Boy’s (Bill Skarsgård) backstory immediately via booming, parodic voiceover that continues throughout the film, a way to let us into the mute character’s thoughts. His family’s deaths are depicted through flashback at the speed of light, before moving on to an epic training montage,...

The Raid Star Reportedly Being Eyed For McU’s New Iron Fist
Netflix’s Iron Fist may be over, but there’s a good chance that the chi-charged champion could return in the future of the McU. The only thing is that it’s unlikely Finn Jones will be asked back to reprise his role as Danny Rand. We Got This Covered has previously brought you the news that Marvel Studios is planning on rebooting the hero and casting an Asian-American actor in the role and now, we’ve heard of a couple of names they’re eyeing for the part.

One of them is The Raid star Iko Uwais. It’s unclear if he’s been formally contacted yet, but he’s one individual – alongside Deadpool 2‘s Lewis Tan – that they’re considering for the new Iron Fist. This information comes our way via the same sources who told us that the Inhumans will be rebooted in Ms. Marvel, which has since been confirmed,...

Keanu Reeves in John Wick 2 (2017)
Here’s What Critics Are Saying About John Wick: Chapter 2
Keanu Reeves in John Wick 2 (2017)
A version of this article originally appeared on ew.com.

Yeah, he’s thinking he’s back. A few years after Keanu Reeves re-asserted himself as an action star with 2014’s high-octane revenge thriller John Wick, he’s back for a second round. As far as most critics are concerned, Reeves (and the returning duo of director Chad Stahelski and screenwriter Derek Kolstad) stuck the landing with John Wick: Chapter 2, expanding on both the first film’s mythology and its body count. Sure seems like we have a new franchise on our hands.

EW’s Chris Nashawaty gave the...

(Note, 1.18.17: Twilight Time will be releasing a domestic disc of

this title on May 16, licensed for U.S. distribution.)

A fine 20th Fox entry for the 3-D craze of 1953, the adventure thriller Inferno is often labeled a film noir in the desert. Despite the presence of a scheming, murderous wife, the noir quotient here is minimal — it’s just a straight survival tale with a homicidal twist. An odd UK-only release licensed by a small independent company, the Blu-ray 3-D is well encoded...

Notebook 4th Writers Poll: The Ferroni Brigade's Double Trouble Madness '11
Many—maybe too many, looking at this bunch of bone-tired warriors of Av-virtue—were the travels the Ferroni Brigade embarked on all through 2011: oftentimes for festivals all over Europe, sometimes for visits to this archive or that as part of our programming arbeit (to be read with a Japanese drawl). During those months in the dark, we saw a lot—some of which chimed and rhymed with new works we encountered in this multiplex back home or that gallery abroad, on this collector's Steenbeck or in that producer's private projection room (they still exist).

On one of those trips, we were joined by our main Mubi-man, His Kasness a.k.a. the Kasest with whom we plunged one evening into a brainstorming on what The Festival would look and feel like (truth be told: it was more like a communal delirium—but what do you expect from folks sitting...
