Veteran actress Jacqueline Bisset says she feels “unsympathetic” towards women who complained of harassment during the advent of the #MeToo movement, saying she feels women are partially to blame for their treatment.
In an interview with Page Six, the British actress who has made her home in the US for more than 50 years, said:
“I understand as an idea, it’s important that men behave, but I do really think it’s important that women behave, too. I think how you dress, what your subtext is very, very important. It’s very dangerous and not to be played with.”
She added: “You have to be very careful what you put out [there].”
Bisset said that she felt “very unsympathetic to these stories, these #MeToo things.”
The #MeToo movement gathered momentum in 2017 following a myriad of allegations that movie producer Harvey Weinstein had assaulted female employees and actresses.

Early in 1987, producers Larry Gordon and Joel Silver were on the hunt for an action hero. They were working on a rollercoaster tale about terrorists hijacking a high-rise tower in Los Angeles and the script called for a muscle-bound bruiser.
For contractual reasons, Frank Sinatra was top of the list for Die Hard. Ol’ Blue Eyes had first refusal as he’d been the star of 1968’s The Detective, which like Die Hard was based on author Roderick Thorp’s thriller novels.
When the 70-year-old crooner confirmed his terrorist-fighting days were long behind him, producers went straight to the most obvious candidate: Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Terminator, Commando and Predator star said no, preferring to try his hand at comedy alongside Danny DeVito in Twins. The rejections kept coming: Richard Gere, Burt Reynolds, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Nick Nolte, Don Johnson and Mel Gibson all passed.
Way down the list was Bruce Willis.

Grantchester ITV
Casualty veteran Robson Green returns to TV this Fall in ITV’s new period crime drama Grantchester. The Geordie actor plays plain-speaking Inspector Keating who ably assists local Vicar and would-be sleuth Sidney Chambers (James Norton). Set in the real-life Cambridgeshire hamlet of Grantchester, the 1950s crime drama is a sort of latter day Father Brown. The series debuts in the UK in October but will also be aired in the Us since it was co-produced by Masterpiece Theatre for PBS.

Inspector George Gently
The latest batch of George Gently episodes come to DVD on 1 April and you’d be a fool to miss out on this boxset. As you will recall, season five ended with Gently and Bacchus, shot and wounded on the floor of Durham Cathedral. Would they recover? Would they ever work again? Well given that there is a season six I don’t think you can accuse me of releasing a “spoiler” if I tell you that the duo made a full recovery. However, it wasn’t an easy road, especially for Bacchus whose wallowing in self-pity eventually led him down an unhealthy path of booze and gambling. Older and wiser, Gently realized that work was the best therapy and he quickly got back to doing what he does best — solving murders.
Even by George Gently‘s own standards, season six features a lot of introspection as...

Former Holby City star Tom Chambers has claimed that he was turned down for a part in Downton Abbey because he wasn't posh enough.
The actor, who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2008, revealed he auditioned to be Lady Mary Crawley's (Michelle Dockery) love interest but was turned down.
Speaking to What's On TV, he said: I was told I didn't have enough blue blood in me to join the series. It was disappointing but you have to be thick-skinned when things don't come your way."
Chambers, who is now starring in BBC drama Father Brown, said: "If I had got the job, I wouldn't have been able to do this, so it wasn't so bad in the end. I'm delighted to be joining such an exciting series."
Downton Abbey's fourth series begins on ITV in the autumn. It will air in the Us on PBS in the New Year.

Timothy Spall in The Syndicate. BBC
Kieran Kinsella
The Syndicate Series 1
The Syndicate, Series One is the pick of Acorn Media’s late April DVD releases. The show is a fascinating character study involving the mundane staff members of a humdrum low-end British supermarket. In the normal course of events, there is nothing particularly intriguing about this group but that all changes when they win the national lottery. When millions of pounds are involved, personal relationships, work rivalries and previously undetected misdeeds suddenly become a lot more important. While the show doesn’t exactly portray the lottery as a bad thing, let’s just say that Kay Mellor’s scripts show us that every silver lining has a massive dark cloud attached to it.
The cast for The Syndicate is top notch and the biggest star among the talented ensemble is Harry Potter actor Timothy Spall. He plays the store manager Bob.

Sherlock Holmes might be sexier, but Gk Chesterton's atmospheric Father Brown stories are the best the genre has ever seen
If there is debate about who is the greatest literary detective, there can be no dispute as to who is the most recognisable. An IMDb search for adaptations of Gk Chesterton's Father Brown stories yields one 1950s film, two television series (one of which has just started on BBC1), a clutch of American Masterpiece Mystery shows, and an American TV movie. A similar hunt for Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes turns up an immediate 200 hits, with many more following: there's Young Sherlock, Robert Downey Jr, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeremy Brett, Basil Rathbone and Billy Wilder, as well as the Baker Street Irregulars, all the spoofs, the debunkings, the modernisations, and so on and on. Even Tom and Jerry have met Holmes.

Who is the greatest fictional detective? Holmes? Marlowe? Marple?
Philip Marlowe didn't solve all his crimes; his main business was doing what his clients wanted and getting beaten up occasionally. He never sorted out who killed the chauffeur in The Big Sleep (unsurprisingly, because Raymond Chandler, when asked, didn't know either). So it must be one of the other two, and I don't know whether to prefer Holmes because he did it with cocaine or Marple because she did it with knitting. Could we compromise on Father Brown?

For me, the greatest fictional detective is the virtually unknown Nigel Strangeways, created by Nicholas Blake (which was the pen name of poet laureate Cecil Day-Lewis). Leonard is regarded as the greatest American crime writer, surpassing even Raymond Chandler. But it is time to drop the qualification of genre
The best novelists create a world around the reader. You can feel it bubbling up in irrepressible invention. So we have "a guy by the name of Booker, a twenty-five-year old super-dude twice convicted felon" in his Jacuzzi when the telephone rings. No one answers it, and Booker gets out of the Jacuzzi. At the other end of the line, a woman, Moselle, asks him to sit down. When he does, she informs him that he's triggered a bomb in the chair – "when you get up, honey, what's left of your ass is gonna go clear through the ceiling". The bomb-disposal boys arrive in their nonchalant way: "Booker said 'Another one goes hmmmmm. I'm sitting here on high explosives the motherfucker goes hmmmmm.'" Is there a bomb?...
