A Wonderful Film in the Style of e.g., "Bringing Up Baby"

This is a splendid classic of Mexican cinema, with good acting, enjoyable music, a fun story, and none of the "mush", etc., I regrettably associate with that cinema. Jorge Negrete was, in a sense, "Bing Crosby" of that era, but more influential in the entertainment of his country. For a critical view of him, I strongly recommend reading Miguel de Molina's autobiography "Botin de Guerra". But though Jorge committed some nearly unforgivable acts of intolerance or greed or will to power - define his actions as you wish - he was nonetheless a great screen, stage and musical personality. On closer thought, I dare say that anyone who likes "It Happened One Night" is likely to enjoy this film. I can't even estimate the number of times I've seen this film, and I could see it again at the drop of a hat. In that regard, I could rank it along with "Midsummer Night's Dream" with Olivia de Haviland, Joe E. Brown, Mickey Rooney and James Cagney, etc., another of my all-time favorites.
