Barbra Fuller, who starred as the daughter Claudia on the long-running radio soap opera One Man’s Family, all while appearing in films for Republic Pictures and such TV shows as Adventures of Superman, has died. She was 102.

Fuller, who lived in the Los Angeles area, died Wednesday, her godson J.P. Sloane announced.

On the San Francisco-set One Man’s Family, created by Carlton E. Morse, Fuller played one of the Barbour family’s five kids from 1945 until the NBC Radio drama completed its 27-year run in 1959. Her character, a twin with kids of her own, was gone from the program for a couple of years before she came aboard.

“It was a fun part. Claudia was a good girl with interesting qualities,” she said in Michael G. Fitzgerald and Boyd Magers’ 2006 book, Ladies of the Western.

The Stranger Wore a GunIn the pantheon of great Western collaborations sits three mantels: John Wayne and John Ford, James Stewart and Anthony Mann, Randolph Scott and Budd Boetticher. There is another mantelpiece, unvarnished and dirty from disuse: Randolph Scott and André De Toth. Does it belong there? Elements, directions, suits in a deck—the trappings of the West always come in fours. Why does this cycle of films lack a reputation, good standing, or even a quick moniker? Skronky where Ford is rhythmic, constricted where Mann is open, jagged where Boetticher is smooth, the De Toth films, six all told with Scott, give, rather than a cohesive persona or moral treatise, a cluster of pictures and ideas on a centerless society. Brass lanterns blown dark, drawn-out fistfights, flaming wagons streaking across the plains, gunfights in pitch-black bars; these images run across the sextet, fogging the hopeful vision of the American West.

With fears our winter travel will need a, let’s say, reconsideration, the Criterion Channel’s monthly programming could hardly come at a better moment. High on list of highlights is Louis Feuillade’s delightful Les Vampires, which I suggest soundtracking to Coil, instrumental Nine Inch Nails, and Jóhann Jóhannson’s Mandy score. Notable too is a Sundance ’92 retrospective running the gamut from Paul Schrader to Derek Jarman to Jean-Pierre Gorin, and I’m especially excited for their look at one of America’s greatest actors, Sterling Hayden.

Special notice to Criterion editions of The Killing, The Last Days of Disco, All About Eve, and The Asphalt Jungle, and programming of Ognjen Glavonić’s The Load, among the better debuts in recent years.

Gracia Querejeta’s “The Invisible,” toplining Emma Suárez, star of Pedro Almodovar’s “Julieta,” and Toni Bestard’s “Pullman” have been acquired for international sales by Feel Content.

They will be made available for online access to buyers as part of next week’s Malaga Festival’s Spanish Screenings Market Premieres showcase, one of the industry event’s main draws.

A distinguished director of now 10 increasingly varied features – including 2017 dark melodrama “Happy 140” and doc feature “Tanto Monta,” and 2018’s absurdist thriller “Crime Wave” – “The Invisible” sees Querejeta returning to her more observational, character-driven mode of 2004’s Malaga Festival winner “Hector,” and “15 Years and One Day,” a 2013 best picture Goya contender, and Spain’s 2014 Academy Awards submission.

She does so in “The Invisible,” written with regular co-scribe Antonio Mercero, with a directness contrasting with her early often more oblique work.

Madrid — A co-producer on Dutch comedy-thriller “El azul bajo sus pies” (“Beyond the Blue Bridge”), Spain’s Tourmalet Films is preparing its biggest feature yet, “Siete Picos,” as it introduces “Killing Crabs” at Locarno’s Match Me! co-production forum.

Launched in 2011, the Madrid and Tenerife-based independent film house Tourmalet broke through two years later co-producing of Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s noteworthy feature debut “Stockholm.”

Managed by Mayi Gutiérrez Cobo, Omar Razzak, Manuel Arango and Daniel Remón, Tourmalet has produced eight feature films and nine shorts, which have played in festivals such as Montreal, Málaga, Cartagena de Indias and Visions du Reel.

The company’s production model is evolving towards increasingly larger budget titles. It started producing short-films, then documentaries -the first, Razzak’s 2013 debut “Paradiso,” about the last porn cinema in Madrid, was an hybrid docu-fiction; followed by Samuel Alarcón’s “Oscuro y lucientes,” a docu feature about research into Francisco de Goya’s skull.

In a war film, what’s the difference between nasty exploitation and just plain honest reportage? André De Toth made tough-minded action films with the best of them, and this nail-biting commando mission with Michael Caine and Nigel Davenport is simply superb, one of those great action pictures that’s not widely screened. To its credit it’s not ‘feel good’ enough to be suitable for Memorial Day TV marathons.

Some movies that were ignored when new now seem far more important, perhaps due to the tenor of times.

On paper it’s a western with everything — a major star, decent supporting players, a cult director and sideways references to the blacklisting years. But even with its ya-gotta-see-it-to-believe-it high noon showdown scene, Joseph H. Lewis’s last feature film is still a lower-tier United Artists effort. Called Warner Archive Streaming, the service would primarily offer classic movies, cartoons, and TV shows from its extensive catalog, rather than new releases. If successful, the service could catapult Warner Brothers as a major player in the booming online video streaming business.

Sometimes the merits of a film noir come down to how superbly directed and acted it is, simple as that. Truth be told, there are only so many variations of the same story which can be told within the genre for it to be considered as legitimately part of the club. In some ways, those are precisely the sources from which these films derive most of their strengths and memorable qualities. Noir is very much about style, which can be robustly dictated by smart direction and specific acting styles rather than by a script. As a new board member of the National Film Registry and Founder and Co-President of reissue film distributor Rialto Pictures, Goldstein is firmly entrenched in the film world. Yet it was an early passion for the medium that led him to where he is today. As if the recent November titles weren’t enough, we now have some other films to add to our upcoming Criterion Collection wishlists.

The Criterion Collection will once again be curating the upcoming All Tomorrow’s Parties Film Screenings, in Monticello New York, this September. The event overall, will be curated by Criterion alum, Jim Jarmusch (Down by Law, Night on Earth, Stranger Than Paradise, Mystery Train). Earlier today, Atp & Criterion announced their line-up of films, and hidden among the list of epic titles that we already knew were going to be released, or are already available, were a few little verifications of rumors going around.

There are movies in this world that for whatever reason hit all the right buttons, and when a flick finds that perfect mixture of actor, story, tone, and style, it doesn't matter what anyone says to sway you: you are convinced that this is the movie for you. For me, Public Enemies is that movie. For today's Songs We Love, I went with Otis Taylor's 10 Million Slaves, a song that wouldn't normally have made it into regular rotation, but, thanks to my love of Mann's period crime tale, has become a permanent fixture on my movie music playlist. The song originally appeared on Taylor's 2002 album, Truth is Not Fiction, made its first appearance in the trailer for the film and eventually became a recurring theme in the film.

Suckers for profiler documentaries will find a decent production in Crime Wave: 18 Months of Mayhem. Not unlike the recent film Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp, Crime Wave suffers when it gets too bogged down in details of the various biographies; it loses sight of the overall story which has a compelling amount of information unto itself, making the moments where it dives too deep into the backstory of any one criminal a bit mundane. Perhaps the greatest aspect of the disc’s scope is that it covers both facets of the story: the criminals and the pursuit thereof; not only do Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde get a strong focus but the formation of the FBI plays an integral role in the telling of the story. 50 Cent in "Baby By Me" video

At the recent Los Premios MTV awards show in Los Angeles, 50 Cent met up with Destiny's Child alum Kelly Rowland. Several hours later, they were in each other's arms. Rowland plays Fif's leading lady in the upcoming "Baby by Me" video.

"I actually ran into her," 50 told us recently on the clip's set. "I said, 'Wow, it'll be great if I could get her to come tomorrow.' "

Fif said he also had his eyes on Columbian model/actress Sofia Vergara, who was at Los Premios too. "I had some ideas," 50 said. "Actually, I was talking to Sofia. I presented with her at the actual awards, and her schedule didn't allow for her [to participate]. Kelly was getting ready to fly back to Miami. I was lucky enough to catch her.

50 Cent provides fans with a movie music video in support of his new street single "Crime Wave". Produced by Team Demo, the video narrates about how cruel life is on the street. It follows the rapper as he guns down a man and runs off with a male companion.

Explaining why he shot a movie in companion to his new release, Fiddy said, "Because I had additional time, I wrote, produced and directed my own film, 'Before I Self Destruct'." He added, "It'll actually be within the album's packaging. So when you buy the record, you'll get the film that I wrote."

"Crime Wave" is confirmed to be included in Fiddy's soon-to-be-released studio installment "Before I Self Destruct". Dr. Dre, Eminem and Ne-Yo are some of today's hottest music talents who are involved in the making of the album which is due for November 23 U.S release.

50 Cent has posted an audio stream of his new song "Crime Wave" on his official YouTube account. Coming out in its dirty and clean versions, the track is confirmed to appear among new materials in his forthcoming studio effort "Before I Self Destruct".

"I meant for it to be a little harder and what I fell in love with about hip-hop and within hip-hop," Fiddy told MTV about what he has planned for the new album. " 'Before I Self Destruct' is absolutely harder than 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'' or other projects in between."

"Before I Self Destruct" is slated for November 23 U.S. release. One of the featured guests in the album is Ne-Yo with whom Fiddy recently shot a music video for their duet song "Baby by Me" alongside Kelly Rowland.
