- [In a bar at the airport in Cairo, Charles Stark can be seen entering. Upon noticing a particular individual who is reading a newspaper, Stark approaches and sits down next to him. This is Mike Canelli]
- Agent Charles Stark: Well, well.
- [Canelli looks up.]
- Agent Charles Stark: From New Orleans, Louisiana to the airport bar in Cairo, Egypt is a long way, even for a guy like Mike Canelli.
- Mike Canelli: [smiles and folds his newspaper] Just like somebody said, it's a small world. Hello Charlie.
- [Canelli and Stark shake hands.]
- Agent Charles Stark: [returns the handshake] What are you doing in Cairo, Mike?
- Mike Canelli: Oh, just a twenty minute stopover on my flight west.
- Agent Charles Stark: It's been four years since I last saw you back home. What brings you all the way over here?
- Mike Canelli: [puts his newspaper on the counter] Knocking around, having fun, trying to stay out of trouble.
- Agent Charles Stark: [laughs] That I want to see. Where there's trouble, you'll find Mike Canelli.
- Mike Canelli: What's your excuse for being here, Charlie?
- Agent Charles Stark: Sorry, Mike, I'm on a confidential assignment, heading for Saudi Arabia.
- Mike Canelli: [with interest] Sounds mysterious. But you always did go in for that cloak and dagger stuff.
- Agent Charles Stark: Where are you bound for now, Mike?
- [an intercom can be heard announcing a flight to Algiers, which is planning to leave soon.]
- Mike Canelli: That's me, Charlie. I'm heading for my old stomping grounds, Algiers for a visit.
- Agent Charles Stark: Look, Mike, I'm coming there myself in a couple of weeks. Forget I mentioned I'm on a job, will you? If we run into each other, we're strangers, okay?
- Mike Canelli: Sure, Charlie? What do you got in Algiers?
- Agent Charles Stark: Maybe nothing but a long dull tail job on a guy with a four-fingered right hand.
- Mike Canelli: [nods and taps him with his newspaper] I'll be seeing you.
- [Stark watches as Canelli turns to leave the bar]

- [At the airport, Mike Canelli can be seen leaving with Lorraine Beloyan. As they are leaving, Charles Stark can be seen arriving. Upon seeing the two, he looks surprised]
- Mike Canelli: Hello, Charlie.
- Agent Charles Stark: Hey, what's going on around here?
- Mike Canelli: [holds a newspaper] You're worried about your case? Read this.
- [Mike gives the newspaper to Stark, who opens it before heading towards a waiting airplane]
- Lorraine Beloyan: Mike!
- [as Canelli joins Lorraine, Stark reads the newspaper, with the main headline reading "American Tourist And General Dumont Solve Lost Gold Mystery." As he realizes everything that's happened, Stark tosses the newspaper to the ground in frustration before watching the plane take off. He watches this until fadeout...]
- [a car can be seen pulling up towards a mansion. In the car are Mike Canelli and Lorraine Beloyan, the latter is driving. When the car reaches the house, it stops]
- Lorraine Beloyan: [looks at Canelli] Would you like some coffee?
- Mike Canelli: [smiles] You got a customer.
- [Mike exits the car. After closing the door, he walks to the driver's side, where he opens it and helps Lorraine out. After that, they both head up to the door and enter]
- [Mike Canelli and Lorraine Beloyan can be seen driving in a car. Lorraine is the one at the wheel]
- Mike Canelli: How do you like that? I left my cigarettes back there.
- Lorraine Beloyan: [looks down to her left] In my bag.
- [Canelli looks down and pulls out a cigarette and a match. He lights the two cigarettes, one for himself, and one for Lorraine]
- Lorraine Beloyan: [takes a smoke] Thank you.
- [Canelli smiles as he takes another smoke]
- [at a club, Mike Canelli can be seen speaking with Lorraine Beloyan]
- Mike Canelli: How did you know my name?
- Lorraine Beloyan: Captain Bey said it this morning when I described the man in the hotel room.
- Mike Canelli: What made you change your mind this morning about identifying me?
- Lorraine Beloyan: The police said Yvonne had been dead over an hour. If you had done it, you would not have remained there.
- [Lorraine holds up a cigarette, which Mike lights]
- Mike Canelli: And you decided to keep me out of trouble. Just because you like the color of my eyes.
- Lorraine Beloyan: Something like that, sir.
- Mike Canelli: Not sir. Just Mike.
- [at the club, Lorraine Beloyan can be seen speaking with Mike Canelli]
- Mike Canelli: How well did you know this girl, Yvonne?
- Lorraine Beloyan: Years ago, we worked together, at a cafe in Tangiers.
- Mike Canelli: Aren't you even curious to ask why I was in her room this morning?
- Lorraine Beloyan: You are a new one after the gold, the latest of many.
- Mike Canelli: [smiles] It's a rough sport for women, as your friend, Yvonne, discovered.
- [while at the club, Mike Canelli can be seen sitting at a table and speaking with Lorraine Beloyan. As they are speaking, someone approaches them. This is Basil Constantine]
- Basil Constantine: Sorry to have been gone so long, my dear.
- Lorraine Beloyan: Mr. Canelli has been keeping me company.
- [Mike stands up from his chair as Lorraine looks up at Basil]
- Lorraine Beloyan: Mr. Constantine, the owner of the club.
- [Lorraine looks at Mike again]
- Lorraine Beloyan: Mr. Canelli.
- [Canelli and Basil shake hands]
- Basil Constantine: Glad to meet you.
- Mike Canelli: How do you do?
- [at a club, Mike Canelli can be seen dancing with Lorraine Beloyan]
- Lorraine Beloyan: Tell me something about yourself.
- Mike Canelli: You know enough about me already. I don't even know your name.
- Lorraine Beloyan: Lorraine Beloyan.
- Mike Canelli: Lorraine? What nationality is that?
- Lorraine Beloyan: My father was Armenian, my mother was French. I was born in Marseilles.
- [at a club, Mike Canelli can be seen dancing with Lorraine Beloyan]
- Mike Canelli: How did you happen to tie up with this fella, Constantine?
- Lorraine Beloyan: I was working in a little place uptown, Basil liked me and gave me a job.
- [at a club, Lorraine Beloyan can be seen dancing with Mike Canelli. At some point, she looks towards the entrance and happens to notice something]
- Lorraine Beloyan: Mike, don't look, but Captain Bey just came in. He mustn't see us together. Dance over towards the orchestra.
- [Mike nods as the two of them dance toward what looks like a rear exit]
- Lorraine Beloyan: Go through that door and wait for me. I'll get my bag and fur.
- [Lorraine walks off to her left while Mike heads through the exit]
- [at a club, Mike Canelli and Lorraine Beloyan can be seen preparing to leave through a back exit]
- Lorraine Beloyan: There's an exit from Basil's office.
- [as Lorraine begins to head towards the door, Mike takes hold of her arm]
- Mike Canelli: I left my hat in the checkroom.
- Mike Canelli: You can get it tomorrow.
