Little Quacker is redesigned.
The ducks depicted are likely a stylized version of the mallard. Male mallards (the only ones shown) have distinctive green heads, though not red accents.
Recreational hunting and fishing had really taken off in the postwar years. It was not too long prior that many Americans still hunted and fished to put extra food on the table, along with home grown produce they farmed.
