    Top gun ?

Narcisse Pigeon is a rather simple boy. One of his uncles has just died, leaving his fortune to the first of his nephews who will be a military pilot. His family persuades him to try his luck. Narcisse, who failed at the draftboard , has an aviator friend. One day when the latter is at home, he takes his costume to try it on, finds in the pocket an urgent letter for the officer of the Regiment and, good-naturedly, sets off to deliver it on his motorbike without remembering that he has a military uniform. This escapade is the beginning of an improbable series of adventures. Enlisted in the barracks, he is subjected to exercises, victim of the severity of the sergeant-major; he meets Rosine, the canteen worker with whom he falls in love.

This movie was already obsolete when it was released, the coarce comedies taking place in the barracks were mainly produced in the first half of the French thirties ; almost a musical ,for there are plenty of ditties , sung by the principal with or without a banjo; one can save ,at a pinch ,the password gag ,and the night in the staff sergeant 's flat treated like a silent movie; the rest is so predictable.

The password is "turkey" and it best describes the flick.
