Ace figures he will have the $500,000 in bonds after serving five years in prison, and calculates that it amounts to making $100,000 per year sewing mailbags. Bob notes that this is more than the President of the U.S. makes. The salary of the President at the time of this film was $75,000 per year and had been unchanged since 1909. It would increase to $100,000 in 1949, $200,000 in 1969 and $400,000 in 2001.
This was Dassin's last film for MGM.
