Bewitched (1945)

Trivia

Bewitched

Edit
Audrey Totter dubbed Thaxter's evil personality's voice.
Bette Davis starred in a 1943 broadcast of Arch Oboler's original radio version of the story directed by Bill Bacher.
As part of his attempt to strike up a conversation with Joan at her Tobacco Counter, Eric purchases a small pack of pipe cleaners for ten cents. After their use in millions and millions of art projects, people are liable to forget that pipe cleaners are exactly that- pipe cleaners!
The film predated two fuller film treatments of multiple personality disorders, Les trois visages d'Eve (1957) and Psychose (1960), by twelve and fifteen years, respectively.
Writer/director Arch Oboler was well known and regarded for his radio plays on macabre and spooky theme for such programs as Lights Out and Arch Oboler's Plays. His radio scripts were marked by his innovative use of sound effects, which are on display in this film.
